I like Nock too, but when I'm carrying a slightly bigger notebook and more pens, etc. I really love my Lihit Lab Teffa Bag. It comes in a variety of colors and a few other sizes. Keeps me organized.

Pen in the shirt, breast pocket. Note pad in the pocket next to photo of my true love.

In college, I did it the other way around. Broke a Parker 45. Got stabbed in the butt.

Franklin Christoph 2 pen Penvelope (which fits 3 at a pinch or 2 pens and a standard chunky round highlighter), and their A5 and A4 journal covers which have an internal pen loop. I have them all in black leather. Amazing quality, thick leather, and the saddleboot finish is lovely to touch.

Edit: sorry, for my A4 notepad I use the Rhodia vinyl black cover but I don't consider this to be very serviceable. It protects it for desk use but something different would be better for grab-and-go situations. It's exposed on 3 sides and the pen loop is useless.

For pens I have a three pen leather case I got off eBay, which travels to and from work with me in a satchel, plus a Kaweco AL Sport that lives in my pocket.

As for notebooks I've tried various solutions and I still looking for the best one. Current strategy is a Midori Travellers Notebook, but I've also used A6 size Clairefontaine notebooks that live in my jacket pockets, an A5 size Rhodia webby, an A4 size webby (mostly which just live on my desk), and an A4 Rhoda dotpad that lives in a folio. None of these have quite the balance of ease, availability and occasional portability I'm really looking for, so I'll probably keep experimenting for a while.

That happened to a friend of mine when we were on holidays a few hours away from medical help. He sat on a fountain pen. It snapped and injected an old lead based ink into his butt cheek. I rang the doctor and he said that I needed to suck the ink out or my friend could die from lead poisoning. "What did the doctor say" my friend asked. "He said your gonna die", I replied.

I've had this journal cover for about 10 years now. Cost me about 80-bucks, which is a bargain considering the work that went into it and how well it's held up over the years. Whenever I'm going anywhere I usually have my satchell. It's just a basic messenger bag I bought at Ed Harry and then decorated with a whole lot of badges over the years. Some of them have fallen off along the way.

I take the el-cheapo route. 4 or 5 pens in a plastic pocket protector in my shirt pocket, and my journal (a 5x8-ish spiral bound notebook), a notepad (Rhodia #16), and my Kindle in a small, cheap, black backpack from Walmart.

I like the look of the Franklin Penvelope, and the 6 pen case. I want to carry 3 to 4 pens in my suit jacket pocket... so I wish the penvelope fit 3 pens or the 3 pen carriers they make looked more like the 6 pen cases. The 3 pen cases seem to look like plain leather boxes.

pens always (and only) in the shirt pocket or inner jacket pocket.

notebook usually in my briefcase, or simply in the hand (for some time now I'm using a filofax flex A5 in red leather which is good for carrying around if necessary; but most of the time my books are either on the desk or in my bag)

Greetings,

Michael

I have a Filofax Flex A5 Lizard for my notes an also carrying a triple pen case for my pens or sometimes just a simple leather pen pouch when I have only one pen with me. Just a side note: if you doesn't satisfied with Filofax notebooks than avoid Maruman Cover Note, which is even worst.

Notepaper: mini composition notebook w/ sewn pages (3-pack costs $0.88 at Wally World and $1.00 at Dollar Tree) just goes into my back right pocket. The made-in-India paper has been good to me these past few years. :)

Pen: Pilot Vanishing Point in the front right pocket or clipped to my shirt collar depending on what shirt I'm wearing.

Maxpedition Fatty. It's about the same size as Clairfontaine 14.8x21cm notebooks. It holds five pens securely, backup sample sized ink vials, a midori passport sized notebook and passport quite well, toss all that along with packs of gum/mints and business cards and it's all I need for business meetings and trade shows. I'll post pictures in a bit.

It isn't very theft targetable as a not-so-ritzy looking case either. Trust me, I forget my stuff onto of equipment from time to time.

I don't travel much, so mostly my currently filled pens (I try to keep that number to just a few) live in a Nock 3 pen case, with one in a pen loop attached to my planner/notebook. When I do travel, I carry only one fountain pen, and one notebook. The pen will vary, but the notebook is a Clairfontaine Clothbound 3.5x 5.5. They travel together in a Sula Jane & Earl leather Journal, Phone and Pen case. If I need a second pen, I have a one pen sleeve that matches that case.

Simplicity has become more important than cool so I've got a Quiver to hold two pens and it slips around the molie. That package goes into the shoulder bag.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

EoC has a maxpedition fatty too, although it is currently filled with tools and a small first aid kit (it's part of a GHB). Instead, the very few remaining fountain pens in this one's possession travel in a Saki Collection pen wrap.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
