Pomegrenade - Levenger

I'm not sure who makes inks for Levenger, but I must confess I enjoy them quite a lot. I've tried some of them and all were intense and intriguing. Pomegrenade is really stunning ink that I enjoy a lot. I've receivea a sample from one of FPNers and I'm hooked. Good stuff.

It's a timely coincidence that you posted this review. A friend is sending me a bottle from the US. I want to compare it to BungBox Sweet Potato Purple.

Hello,

I like the color and the shading.

Best regards.

Excellent well saturated red ink. One of my favorites. I've always found Levinger's ink to be quite well behaved and enjoy using them.

Thanks for taking the time to review the Levinger Inks.

Does anyone know how it compares to Oku-yama? They seam as though they would be similar. This is really lovely. My favourite colour family for inks.

The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.

Pommegranate is one of the best Levenger colors (and I like a lot of their colors)... I just did a quick comparison to Bungbox SPP and Okuyama. BBSPP has more red.

Vis.. thanks so much for another amazing review!!!...

Thanks for offering this observation about BBSPP comparison. It was a BB ink I had wanted to try & then the whole Sailor supply for the US went berserk! And strangely I have weaned myself from that obsession & discovered others to try. But I am grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the BB's I did purchase when the "getting was good" ( & prices more reasonable!) I will just have to content myself with my BbspY & Levenger Pomegranate.

Visvamitra, would you mind sharing what pen and nib combination you use for your ink reviews. I am always interested in how much shading you get.

Thanks

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
