Montblanc Unicef Roller, Blue Stone & Laurel Leaf But No Serial Under The Blue Stone

Hi

I have just acquired this beauty from a friend " Montblanc Unicef" edition, however, after I purchased the pen, I found out on Ebay that there are some of these pens UNICEF edition in particular are having additional serial number ( like limited edition ones) engraved on top of the clip just under the blue stone !!! while mine doesn't have it :(

Certainly, I don't mean the serial number of the pen printed along with the word " Germany" round the top of the pen clip, but I mean an additional serial I saw engraved just under the blue stone.

Can some one enlighten me ? Didi I buy the wrong pen ?? If not, why some UNICEF edition are featuring this serial and others are not like mine?? Is there a purpose beyond it? I have enclosed some snap shots for my MB for your review.

You got the 2009 edition which doesn't have that other number below the stone. The 2013 edition is platinum and not gold, and does have that number that you used to add yourself to a wall in a montblanc page they had.

Thanks jsolares for the information .. still on the UNCIEF Topic and I got one more question; Are all the UNICEF Pens got the same size (146) or they are different like the regular classic Meisterstück ? I am thinking to go for a fountain & ball point too pen too. provided they match the same size of my roller :)

They were available in almost the entire lineup, so there are classique sized ones but also Legrand size, just look for the piston mechanism when looking for the fountain pen and the 161 ballpoint.

I have the MB 161 Legrand Ballpoint. Love the wreath and the blue stone. Don't worry about your Rollerball, it looks authentic.

Amr, Hello, as it have been said, you got a real MB unicef, and yes the 2013 (Signature for good) are at available in different Meisterstuck lines (149, 146 & Classic) and models (FP, RB, RP) in a platinum line but the blue sapphire size differs (at 146 is 0.02 when in classic is 0.01), you can visit the MB boutique at Fourseasons mall - Giza or City Stars - Nasr City, I would recommend the first as the employees are more educated and helpful and got all the range there, at least when I brought mine (146 FP unicef).

good luck at your collection.

I don't think the 2013 UNICEF comes in 149 size. If it did, I would have bought 2 or 3 of them. I ended up with 2 146's, one for my wife, and one for myself. Sadly, my wife's was stolen from her office desk. I am in search of another one, but all the boutiques I've tried are out of them.

In my opinion, the 2013 UNICEF line is the best looking of all of the non-limited edition pens that MB has put out. The platinum finial and blue stone are just marvelous.

Your pen looks very nice. Congrats.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
