i'm so sorry about going off topic, but the background sound was REALLY unexpected :).

On YouTube someone complained about my breathing. (Yep, I'm one of those with a deviated septum and hence a mouth breather). This time, I was listening to music. I just discovered her that day. I'm totally impressed. Aida Nikolaichuk is AMAZING.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Really??.. I thought that was too easy.... when you were talking about "getting darker"... I was thinking, no it can't be Iron Gall cause that would be a dead giveaway... only Konrad is currently making green Iron Galls... :headsmack:

Well, I had the iron gall part right, apparently, anyway....

Congratulations to lgsoltek.

:D :D My guess is close but I don't exactly get the ink right though. That "iron-gall" part was a dead giveaway. And Amber said it's Cyber6' favourite brand so that makes it easier.

Amber, my address is still the same as the one I gave you sometime ago. Do you still have it? If not I'll PM it again.

I'll admit i forget sometimes what is in a pen. I also have this problem:

I have a Sailor ink that I love that I bought as an opened bottle from my dealer. There is no label.

I have no idea if it is Epinard, the 2010 Tokiwa-Matsu or the current one, but I am 99% sure it is one of those three. I would love to know for certain but I have accepted that that is, in the immortal words of Homer Simpson, "unpossible".

Okay, here are some close ups, maybe we can see the difference.

I know it's probably wrong, but I keep thinking Sherwood green. So very wrong. Must read to the end before answering lol.

actually, the limits of my memory of inks in pens is one of the limits that I have set on my spending: when I can't remember what's in a pen, once I use it up I don't re-ink it (immediately) and I don't buy any more inks until I finish a bottle. I have about 15 inks.

I do it all the time. Now I keep an A5 size dot pad with a dated, running list I call "My Pens".

Depending on how many I'm working on, I always have between 10 and 15 pens inked up on my bench. Maybe the mad cow disease, but I do get confused...lol..

I used to keep an ink log on my computer, but the computer and inks are in different parts of the house...so I sometimes forgot to log the ink fill. Now I keep an ink sample binder, located near my inks, so when I fill/refill, I jot down the date, pen and ink.

I have had a brain freeze, I went to refill a pen that had Waterman blue, and I knew it was Waterman blue, and I filled it with Cross blue. So even knowing the ink in the pen, did not help when my brain was too tired to think. Lesson, don't refill pen when tired.

Oohs, guessing a Sailor blue ink, that's a challenge!

Craig brought me 10 samples of different Sailor blue or blue-black inks. I'm enjoying playing with them, but I can't remember which ink is in which pen.

I discovered Sailor Bungbox Eel, and now it's in all my pens but one. It's the prettiest color I've ever seen and if Sailor stops making it I may go back to the computer altogether.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
