Hi guys,

It is with very heavy heart that I have to say Fergus passed away peacefully this morning.

He was a real fighter to the very end.

Just a few pics of the lad if I may.

Ah, so sorry to hear this. Even though we know it's coming, it doesn't lessen the hurt or sense of loss when it does happen.

Well, he was loved - that's the best to be asked for in a life. I'm sorry you lost a friend. But he's better now and not so sick as he was, so there's that to staunch the pain a little.

I was just wondering about him yesterday.

That's so odd, I was reading one of your posts a few days ago and wondering how your cat was doing. Thanks for letting us know. Sad news, but as my wise vet said, it's quality of life, not quantity that counts. He sure was a handsome fellow though.

Oh no! Fergus was "our" cat as all of us on the board enjoyed his antics for years. I will forever associate my Carenes with his lovely face. :crybaby:

Very sorry for your loss. It's always hard to lose a furry family member. Hope his journey across the rainbow bridge was peaceful.

Oh my! I've not been here as long as most but like GP I will forever see Fergus each time I pick up my Carene. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Actually, I'll think of him when I look at my Abby Rose. May peace be with you and Fergus. Abby throws kisses to Fergus.

What a FINE looking lad.

My heart goes out to you. The loss of a beloved pet is heart rending, and Fergus was clearly beloved.

Were he able to speak to you today, I'm sure he would thank you for the wonderful life you gave him and promise you that good days are ahead together when you join him.

So sorry for your loss. Funny how much of ourselves we invest in our little friends. Such a heavy blow when they go. 17 years is a pretty good run.

Shouldn't phonics be spelled with an f?

Hi Force,

So sorry to hear of Fergus' passing. My wife and I lost our cat of 16 years a couple of months ago. We empathize with your loss.

Regards,

John

Thanks for sharing Fergus with us. Such a beautiful creature.

Clearly we were all hoping his last days would be comfortable and passing peaceful. Good to know it was so.

17 years is a very long special time. I can't imagine missing out on any of the 16 years to fend off the eventual loss of my girl.

Take care during this difficult time.

Oh, good heavens. He's got a blog now, too.

This is sad, but Fergus had a pretty good run, and we can be happy he had a long life. I will think of him whenever I use any Waterman pen. He continues to give us joy as we think of him. Thanks for the great pictures.

Sorry to hear this, Don, it actually brings tears in my eyes. I have "been there", twice...

You were his foster-parent so to say.

I know he was ill earlier this year.

Where you there? Or was it at his "other home"?

Thank you all for your comments and thoughts.

Ferg visited us on Sunday for his normal walk about and drink from his water bowl. He has been living under our car, during daylight hours, for 5 days. On Monday while at his home, 2 doors away, he could not walk and had a couple of mini strokes. It was then his real family decided he had fought long enough.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
