Hello,

Yes I saw it, had the edson on my "to buy" list, but it's not cheap pen, so will see when I want to buy, if I can still get it it or not.

Best regards.

Why panic. Many discontinued models are still available from dealers and owners in mint unused condition 15+ years after production ceased.

There are millions of Sapphires and probably blacks out there, but Rubies and Emeralds are the ones to look out for.

For those wanting to buy, this may actually be a good thing as retailers will probably reduce the last few to clearance prices.

I just picked up another used one yesterday because it had a stub nib. These are great pens and likely to last a really long time since they are C/C.

I have the translucent blue one but wish I would have picked up the red and green ones. Awesome pens!

Can't believe they're asking $895.00 for the green ballpoint! Don't remember what I originally paid for the blue fountain pen when they first came out...15 years ago? Always intended to get the red and green FP too but figured I had time. Foolish me. I never liked the looks of the Boucheron. Too much bling.

Zaddick...where's a good place to find them? I've googled but not coming up with any possibilities. There's a red FP with medium nib on EBay but starting bid is $595.

Was just able to score the red translucent

Edson FP. Now looking for the green. When is enough enough

This is truly a sickness.

Well, apparently they are not so hard to find. :D

I don't have a green one either. eBay in the US seems to be a bit of a bust the last 6 months or so. People were having more look on international eBay, but the best bet is probably other members here. I picked up a ruby with a stub nib as part of a pen trade with another member.

They also sometimes show up on the secondary market in good shape for a reasonable price. Pen shows also offer a few finds. I saw several at the SF pen show, but all were over my target price.

Where did you find your red one? I bought my blue one from Germany.

Congratulations. I find that pen is more attractive in person than photos. It is certainly not for those who like to fly under the radar!

Looking forward to the review.

I've been eyeing this one for a few years too. It just never got high up enough on my priority list.

Maybe one day..

It just bowls me over these Edsons are between $2000 to $2500 in Asia, for the normal version! I was entertaining the idea of buying one in Asia at my favorite pen shop and the sales associate told me to buy it back in the US.

Nibs.com has some Sapphire and Diamond Black. Their latest newsletter says they are being discontinued. I had to bump the Diamond Black up on the priority list as a result.

Indeed. Last time I looked, A$2700 in Australia... not surprisingly, I bought from UK.

How do they write? It's an ugly sort of question when you can get an old one with a flexible nib for much less than an Edson?

I know it makes me a Grumpy Cat, but the modern pens don't seem much fun to write with, compared to the older ones.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
