Hello all,

 

I am hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can recommend someone for repair of a sailor nib. I unfortunately dropped my progear extra fine nibbled pen.

Wow, thats a first..not one reply.. Kind of off putting for me. I have six sailor 1911 and realo pens. The maintenance and repair info on sailor pens is scarce for sure.

Hope someone in the know sees this and we can get a discussion going. Thanks for posing the question.

For my part i would like to know how to service and lubricate my 3 piston fill Realo.

I'd give Mike Masuyama a try. This is specifically a nib problem. Mike worked @ Sailor for years.

*Sailor 1911S, Black/gold, 14k. 0.8 mm. stub(JM) *1911S blue "Colours", 14k. H-B "M" BLS (PB)

*2 Sailor 1911S Burgundy/gold: 14k. 0.6 mm. "round-nosed" CI (MM) & 14k. 1.1 mm. CI (JM)

I don't know how heavy Mike's workload has become since he has moved to California. He's also been busy modifying JoWo nibs for Franklin-Christoph, but I would definitely contact him.

John Mottishaw sells & works on good many Sailors (I have bought most of mine from Classic Fountain Pens - no affiliation).

I have close to 20 logged e-mails back & forth from Mike Masuyama.

My last communication with Mike was in December of 2013, using this e-mail address: mikeitwork@gmail.com

Maybe he has changed his contact info when he moved from Georgia to California,... but give this a try.

Mike fixed a Sailor for a friend of mine who still raves about how much better it was when he got it back. You can indeed contact him at the address on his website though it may take a few days for him to reply if he's at a show or away. www.mikeitwork.com

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
