Any Experience Of Oxford My Colours?

Has anyone used Oxford My Colours notebook?

The notebooks we have at work aren't the best. But I found this in the range of our stationary supplier. http://www.officedepot.se/ecommerce/sortiment/papper--block-c2334/block-c2496/kollegieblock-c2505/kollegieblock-oxford-my-colours-P2633981/

Is it fountain pen friendly?

Yes they are fine for use with FPs. As @jsolares posted above, they use Optik paper, which is bright white and very smooth. Two notes of caution: some inks can sometimes be slightly slower to dry on Optik, and I'm sure the paper includes optical brigthteners, like most bright white papers, and this can 'throw off' the colour of some inks occasionally. This only matters if you are very nit-picky about the fidelity of your ink colour.

I'll agree with what was said above. If it's Optik paper (which it probably is seeing as it says 90g in the text in the link) then its fine. My personal scribbling notebook is an Oxford Black 'n Red notebook. Optik paper, while not as ink resistant as Clairfontaine/Rhodia, is great stuff perfect for any fountain pen (only pen I've found that doesn't work is a flexed ahab but I think that's because the tipping digs into the paper and makes it bleed). Plus Optik paper in my experience isn't perfectly smooth (still really smooth none the less) so you can get some nice positive feedback from it.

Don't mind me, I like to ramble... A LOT

Thanks for your information. Sounds really positive.

Now I only have to convince my boss to approve that I purchase these notebooks instead of crappy ones we usually use. The price wasn't too bad imho, ~$6.75.

Andy, I recently bought a bunch of Oxford notebooks because of the "lowest price" option used at my work, I was lucky in that Tesco was selling them dirt cheap as it was "back to school" time.

I bought one, liked it and then every time I went in I cleared their shelves until 2 days after the promotion ended (I got a final purchase after the promotion as they forgot to take the sticker price down).

I find some inks that skip over the printed lines in Oxford Optik paper. I know that the paper is not to blame for that, just I wanted to point it out.

Good to know, thanks!

Pens that can be hard starters or has a tendency to skip get worse on this paper. It works best for smooth nibs with good flow and fast drying inks. I have seen the skipping over lines mostly on Oxford recycled paper.

I have never seen ANY ink bleed through on this Oxford paper. Not even when I accidentally have poured ink over it.

Received a couple of these notebooks today.

Haven't had much time to try them, but the short scribbles I did was really promising.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
