This Sunday, Nathan, Special Inks, What More Can I Say?

Well.... Ruth better not hog all the ink.... I sent my operative to grab me one of each. :D

I was good! I only got one each, plus one of the King Philip's Requiem for bleair (to be traded for a player to be named later -- we're currently in negotiations...).

I actually wasn't the problem -- it was all the people in line in front of me (!) when I got there around 10 AM.... (the line stretched across the width of the room and wrapped a bit at each end; fortunately it was not the *length* of the room, but it was still a very long wait). Oh and Nathan is a LOT younger looking than he sounds in the videos.

Ironically, I forgot to ask what *other* inks that Noodler's had there (still need to pick up a bottle of Park Red at some point). I did ask him whether there would be new colors of ebonite Konrads any time soon, and Nathan said "Eventually...."

Commonwealth is a nice little show. I had a good time for the few hours I was there. It was worth the rest of the weekend dealing with the M-i-L (who in her behalf *did* give me what may be her father's old Sheaffer Balance -- once I had Jim Baer get the Eversharp Skyline cap off of it); and the hellacious traffic on I-80 Thursday evening and even *more* hellacious traffic on I-84 in the Waterbury CT area on Friday and yesterday afternoon. The husband and I made it as far as Altoona last night before collapsing into little puddles of exhausted goo.... And he's arranged to get a ride home from work from a co-worker so I do not have to fight the sudden road-closure -- started just this AM, and for an undetermined length of time -- on the commute between his job and the house for a *second* time today (thank you PennDot -- not...).

I'ver never heard of such a thing. ;)

Some of these inks sell out faster than plywood right before a hurricane.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
