No panic ;)

All the usual nib sizes can be ordered, including BB and obliques.

Sorry: my browser didn't refresh properly,

so I missed all the posts that already confirmed the nib choices

No panic from me. The universe always brings me more pens than I have money. :)

I am glad you can exchange for the full line of nibs though. I like the O3B on the 149s. Go big or go home. ;)

I emailed the company a couple days ago, and not received any reply back. They have it on the website but no buy button yet. Hopefully they have it by the end of the month.

Well, Couronne du Comte had a 419P with a medium nib... :)

Thank you so much for sharing this! What an awesome video. I so rarely find examples like this for such new products. Still have yet to find a Starwalker Extreme video or many 90th anniversary videos.

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

Thanks for the compliments from both of you. It was a fun little project and asked for a reprise. I'm working on a review on the Montblanc M series at the moment. There's a platinum theme going on here :)

Done! The Montblanc M has a platinum trim, so it still fits this thread, right? It turned out to be an 11.5 minute review:

Those of us waiting for the 149 Platinum to be available on the MB website..... Our time has come. I just purchased one in fine. I never received an e-mail from them, but they are available now. Unfortunately they are only offering "F & M" nibs right now. Now the wait and anticipation is going to kill me....

Regards,

John

Thank you so much! I, too, did not receive the e-mail to inform it was in stock but that doesn't surprise me. The last time I used the feature, I DID get an e-mail when it actually wasn't in stock. But anywhoodles, I wish I were in the position to buy one right now :( I still haven't made up my mind yet whether to buy the 90th Anniversary in OBBB or the new Platinum model. I love Platinum trim over yellow or rose gold but I love the 90th nib over any of the other nibs. I'm sure I'll end up with both at some point but which one first??

I believe there was communication here about Montblanc reducing the offerings of their nib sizes available off the shelf. Maybe not enough people are buying the special nibs like obliques and anything above medium. So they'll just wait for those customers to send the pen in for a nib exchange to get the one they way. Let us know how it goes when it arrives!! :)

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

After a lengthly wait for the shipping system to catch up. This finally arrived last night. It is great looking, has great feel, and is an awesome writer. The fine nib puts down quite a bit of ink. I can't tell any real difference between this "F" and the "M" on the 146. Now off to enjoy Fountain Pen Day and write....

John

Thank you kindly for this video. It is usually very hard to find videos, especially actual reviews, of newly-released products. I must say that you do an excellent job for a review that is also informative. I would think that maybe you are a professional in this area :D

All Montblancs are available in all nib sizes in the standard MB repertoire. EF, F, M, OM, B, OB, BB and OBB. I believe MB phased out having a wider range of nibs pre-fitted and new pens now come only with F and M. But you're welcome to send the pen back for nib exchange.

Since these are primarily going to be pretty much standard Meisterstuck nibs, I think the turn around is going to be fairly quick, and done locally in Texas. Don't forget the 149 can be had with an OBBB nib which is AMAZING! Its pretty much the only nib that's exclusive to the 149.

I checked on the website and the Rose Gold version offers EF F M B BB options for the nibs but not the platinum version. Perhaps later down the production schedule they will offer the other nib options from the factory. It IS a new nib design after all....(even if just the masking)

I also took my 149 pt f nib yesterday. I examined all the three f nib pens in the boutique , and found that the tines are all a little bit too separate that would cause the ink flow too heavy. I finally picked up the least separate one, it writes smoothly but loses some shades of ink.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
