Toronto September 2015 Meet

September 19 at 11:30, at The Fox & The Fiddle at 280 Bloor Street West.

The summer is over and I'm hoping that now that the kids are back in school and we're all settling into the regular schedule that will last us through to the Christmas break, we might have more people come out to the meet. I'm definitely coming on the 19th, and I'm willing to bring whatever people want to see in person. So let me know!

Salman, if you're reading this, please come! I've got a pen from my boss that needs your expert foot-removal services. :)

Hi there,

Is this an open group? I'm new to the FPN and would love to meet with local aficionados. There's only so much eye-rolling from friends and colleagues I can take when I bring out a fountain pen or ink!

Cheers!

Cyber6 reminded us all to come last night at the Pens and Pints. Hoping to make it.

The last time I went it was Gerald and I and that made for an expensive visit to MB Boutique after breakfast.

It will be great to see you again Saskia_madding. Absolutely too long and Yama Budo if you still have some would be wonderful to bring along.

Rob Maguire (Plse call me "M or Mags" like my friends do...)I use a Tablet, Apple Pencil and a fountain pen. Targas, Sailor, MB, Visconti, Aurora, vintage Parkers, all wonderful.

Will try to make it - will bring some P of Abraham ink for some to try. In Mags' honour, I might even put some ink into some of my pens! LOL

Drop me a PM with the color you want and I will reply to what I have..... I have no intention of carrying bottles there and back.. so you better show up to collect your ink. :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
