Blue 02 - Hieronymus

Hieronymus Stationers Ag is Suisse company that specialises in the manufacture and sale of premium stationery goods (paper, pens, inks). The company is located in Zurich but operates also via the website www.hieronymus-cp.com. They offer a wide variety of luxury products and I believe they market themselves skillfully and in an elegant way. I advice you to watch short promotional clips on their internet site.

Among other products Hieronymus offers inks. I'm not sure who makes them for you but the bottles are unique and loos stunning on the photos:

The inks are definitely priced premium - with the price of 48 CHF they outclass Caran d'Ache and Iroshizuku inks. I believe only Luis Vuitton inks are more expensive (50 euros / bottle)? If I'm wrong, please, correct me.

I've received few samples of their inks. I won't tell you which ones, lety it be surprise :) The inks I've already reviewed are:

  1. Blue 01
  2. Blue 02
  3. Green 01

Blue 02 is strange. I believe it could be named Slate Grey or maybe Dusk Blue? Frankly it's more grey than blue and it has quite a bit of green to it. To ne honest I'm not really keen on this one.

Perhaps it is only the recent discussion about persons who have discovered the "change" in their Organic Studio's BLUE MERLE ............but that is what I am reminded of when I look @ this swab. I am not really interested in subtlety of "pale" inks so it is "lost" on me. BUT since there are 3 versions (1,2,3) of most of the inks I suppose version 2 would be better the 3rd!

I agree with those who aren't impressed with how pale this blue is. I'm biased, as I prefer very saturated inks. I think it has something to do with my vision needing the contrast between paper and ink.

IMO an interesting grey (in general) but not good enough to buy because of the bad price.

Price is absurd but the water resistance is quite impressive if someone is fond of the color (I am not). Thanks for the review!!

i don't usually go for blues, but i like this one, only because of its grey tone to the blue color. making it an easy-on-the-eye shade of blue on white paper.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
