Any Consensus On Platignum Converters?

I've seen the topic come up a couple of times, but haven't managed to find a definitive answer. I have a perfectly functional cheapo Platignum No 1 knocking about, and for all that it's low end it's a nice metal pen to write with. I'd like to be able to stick a converter in it and use it as an on-the-go pen, but I can't seem to find for sure which one would fit, and being rather strapped for cash I can't afford to try a bunch of different ones! Has anyone found one which fits in this pen?

I believe that Platignum fountain pens use a proprietary ink cartridge, NOT the Standard International Size. Some earlier cartridge fountain pens do not accept a compatible converter. Do you have an aversion to refilling the cartridges ?

I haven't managed to find any Platignum cartridges, to be honest! I was under the impression they hadn't made any cartridges of their own, and think I've previously used standard international shorts in it - I'll have to double check. I'm currently waiting for a new syringe to arrive so that I *can* refill cartridges, but prefer to use a converter because it means less frequent and less fiddly topping up of ink. Cult Pens suggested the the Faber-Castell converter, but since I have very little money, I'm loathe to buy one if it's not going to work :S I'll look into the cartridges more, thanks!

Thanks all! I experimented on the off-chance, having been told by Cult Pens that this model is an old one and having heard elsewhere that some of the older Platignums take standard internationals - and it did! Success. Currently got Diamine Jet Black in there. Hope this helps someone else down the line! - it's a nice little cheap pen.

Platignum do make a converter, though to be honest it doesn't feel as secure in my Platignum (no 5) studio's as the monteverde mini does. It seems to wedge in place at the top of the screw thread, rather than directly into the feed itself. Cartridges for platignum's are available, cult pens now have them https://www.cultpens.com/i/q/PG29453/platignum-fountain-pen-ink-cartridges .

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
