Parker Penman

My 3 and a half bottles pale into insignificance, but I always have a Parker 45 filled with Sapphire, that I write letters to my penpals with, and I have an unboxed bottle of ruby that I no longer want or use, but haven't bothered to sell.

I bought some of the Organics Studio Cuddles Flo-Plus ink additive and add one tiny drop to a vial full. It makes it magically better to use and it doesn't dry out in my pens.

I added one tiny drop to the bottle of ruby, and now when you really shake it up, it has bubbles in it. It's potent stuff!

For those who don't have PPS you can make ink of the same shade using Diamine Majestic Blue and Diamine Sapphire Blue. The exact recipe is on FPN somewhere.

Best regards.

I am totally impressed.

I dearly want some of the emerald or sapphire, but there's no one here to trade with. Anybody up for a nearly full bottle of Stormy Grey for half a bottle of either?

Too bad you were not at the San Francisco Pen Show.

The Penman inks were in the ink samples to try out.

wow! wonderful collections displayed here. to reduce my envy, i am trying to convince myself that 2 or 3 bottles are real, the remainder in the pictures are created using cgi techniques as is done for large numbers of movie extras.

Hello,

The only way I can think of trading a bottle of PPE or PPS is with a pen that I want, my collection is new and short of many (iconic/must have) pens.

Best regards.

I was given a few cartridges of PPS, and I added a bit of water to top off one of the carts before using it in a 75 (Parker) (or 45?). I liked the color diluted. I kept filling the cart with water as I used the ink, and the color got prettier and prettier, albeit less dark.

I ended up emptying the remaining carts into a sample vial and adding a bit of water, and that's what I have until I use it up.

ETA: I'm satisfied with what I have, appreciate the gift of it, but I'm pretty sure that other special inks are or will be available always. (As long as I can get my Noodler's Black, I'm good, hahaha. <smiley>)

This is me jealous. :puddle: I can't get more than a bottle of Quink here, Noodler's is out of the question, and the nearest pen show I can find is an hour plus drive, at a minimum.

The SF Show 2 weeks ago was a 10 hour drive up and an 8 hour drive back. Get with the program!

I don't know about everyone, but I do.

I use PP Ruby in any of my modern pens, and selectively in some of my more free-flowing vintage pens.

  • 4 weeks later...

I have used them all, having one bottle of each color (save ebony) at one point or another. Ruby is one of my favorite burgundy inks, really nice.

As the Colorado pen show this afternoon I was just given a full, unopened bottle of ebony as a gift for buying a Black and Pearl Duofold set so I'll get a chance to try it out as well now.

The inks are special, and Sapphire deserves the praise it gets....but that said, there's just something about a fine product that has been discontinued for years, has become legendary and comes in those swell bottles to boot. It all adds to the mystique!

Parker Penman Sapphire, given its reputation, is an ink that EoC has wanted to try for a while. As it is no longer produced, it looks like EoC is out of luck. Fortunately there are plenty of other inks out there for the likes of EoC

Hello,

Well Ebony is the only color that I don't have, and that's because of me refusing to buy it, the guy asked which colors I want so told him all but ebony, not sure what I was thinking but that's what happened, but will still go back to him and get few bottles.

Best regards.

With a Parker 45 Flighter I bought recently came 2 cartridges of ink. One is stamped "Sapphire". I have yet to use it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
