Yesterday I received a VFM in the mail and I was a little annoyed that it only took cartridges (I knew going into it that it only took cartridges but I was willing to get it anyways). So now I'm wondering what I can do to stuff a converter in it. I am already aware that the Kaweco converter fits and I know that I can just refill the cartridges but what I want to know is if anyone has figured out any ways to fit a standard converter in it. Sorry to ask a question that already has answers but I'm just curious as to what other solutions exist.

Find an original sheaffer slim Targa squeeze converter. Most probably it would fit.

Since the VFM is supposed to use international cartridges, try to insert a second cartridge upside down in the pen before the section with a cartridge installed.  If this works then a long cartridge or convertor will fit.

Sheaffer convertors and cartridges will not likely work with this model.

The shorter Chinese standard international will fit, I have a Hero in it.

Problem is that the barrel would be large enough to fit a standard converter but Sheaffer decided to put an insert into the barrel that I guess is designed for you to put a cartridge in the barrel and make the cartridge attach to the feed on its own when you screw on the section. I'm trying to find if there are any other converters that are the EXACT same length as a standard short or if someone has found a way to remove the insert

It is just a spring firmly lodged at the end of the barrel in most of the Sheaffer cartridge-only pens. I pull these using a srraightened paper clip after giving a slight bend to one of its end.

Best.
