Pelikan Nib Exchange Experience Croatian Edition

Greetings.

In this topic I will write about my experience about Nib Exchanging on my Pelikan M200.

I live in Croatia and usually there is only Fine nib option on every fountain pens.

So when i read in guarantee prospect by Pelikan that i can exchange my nib(For FREE), there is where my

problems started. In the store where i bought my pen( Narodne Novine), they didnt want to accept my wish to

exchange the nib for greater (in my case F to M) one. They said there is no reason to send my pen to " Servis " because

there is nothng broken on the pen. It looked like that they dont know what they are selling and as it looks like they

dont know how to read Englis (my opinion). After long time arguing with them i decided to contact a Croatian distributer

for Pelikan ( RAM3 ), at first they wanted to sell me a new nib, but I wrote to Pelikan about this. So few days later

I've recieved a email from Cro.Distributer that i can send my pen to them, and they will send pen to Pelikan. I did that

after 3 mounths later (today 2.9) my M200 is in my hands with a new nib.

Conclusion:

If you live in Croatia or any other Country know you rights. If they say that you " Cant ", you usually can.

If it says in guarantee list that one can change nib " FOR FREE - in 40 days interval after buying the pen " they must

accept your wish to do so.

Im sorry for my bad Englis, but I wanted to tell you how things started and ended for me.

Your English is completely understandable, Pen_Lover_Cro, do not have any concerns about that. It is a shame you had to fight for the nib exchange, but well done for your patience and persistence. I suspect that even shops in England cannot read English sometimes! Enjoy your medium nib. :)

Way to stick with it. I didn't realize something that I've taken for granted might be so hard to accomplish in other countries. Thanks for sharing. Hope the new nib I'd to your satisfaction. Enjoy your pen.

This new nib is Heven to Old (F) one. Now its awkward to me to write with M200 because i got used to Lamy Al-star and Faber Castell basic, and some dip nibs. But M200 works for me now, thanks for a good wishes. P.S I love my M200 more and more.

I'm sorry that you had to go through this ordeal just to get your rights respected.

I know very well how frustrating and irritating it is when vendors act like this, since in my home country (Brazil) these things happen all the time. Only this kind of attitude will eventually change the situation. Well done!

Enjoy Your M200 Medium, they are wonderful pens, and welcome to FPN.

Besides being generally difficult and unco-operative, the local distributors seem to be ordering stock based on past practice. You will be hard put to find nibs other than F or EF in Pelikans from the 1950s sold in Croatia or in its neighbouring states. I gave up many fine older pens because I guessed that finding the nib of my choice would be far more difficult than finding the pen of my choice.

Best wishes,

Kaushla

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
