Your To Blame.

I hold this forum responsible for my behavior! I was minding my own business when I stumbled across this place. I was gifted a Jinhao 599C by a very nice fellow from across the pond. I was amazed by how it wrote and vowed to look into this brand. Well time passed and while I used this pen semi weekly I forgot to check on its pedigree. Then I find this place, great so far I am waiting for.

1 Baoer 388

1 Jinhao X450

A handful of Jinhao 599C

I tried to tell my wife that it's not my fault, but I had to allot the Baoer 380 for her. I worry when she see the rest.

Pop Tarts and gravy, It's whats for breakfast.

My excuse was that we needed to lose weight. Hence the spending of food money on pens, inks, papers, nib smoothing gear, ink blending bottles, etc, etc, etc.

Oh dear, we have created a monster :D Welcome to the slippery slope - it is all downhill from here. I remember when I only had about 10 pens; those were the days :P

If it brings you as much pleasure as it does me, then I'll gladly take the blame.

I'm having withdrawal symptoms at the minute as I haven't bought a Chinese pen for 9 days now.

A new record

I'm afraid that you're to blame your self. After all, you did find us!

You're quite correct Mr. Rice.

Hello Linedog.

My Baoer 388 has become my "take me with you everywhere" pen for everyday use. It looks great and it writes perfectly. I can hardly believe it was almost free. I still love my old up-line pens, but Chinese pens seem to be incredible value for money. A Jinhao 250, just received, is doing wonderfully. I am taken aback at the quality of Chinese pens and their incredibly low price.

@Ian the jock

I have a feeling that I am headed your way with buying lots of Chinese pens! Already I am thinking about what's next in line.

I have be advised that my pens have been shipped, expected delivery date of September 16 to October 22. If only ComCast could be so effective.

Well...

I didn't make it to day 10

Bought 2 Huahongs last night.

So much for showing restraint and will power.

I managed to go several months. I just ordered a red Jinhao 601, bid on a blue one, and ordered several Baoer 801s, as well as a Jinhao X250 and 1200. (In black. I already own the gold one.) Huahongs, well gorgeous, are a bit outside my discretionary budget right now. I'd rather buy 6-8 pens than the one I'd get if it was a Huahong. I'll run out of things to buy first eventually, though.

If anyone has a spare Hero 812 in white that they're willing to part with, please PM me. I'm trying to find one for my collection.

Ah! But no!

The 2 Huahongs were $1.40 and $0.68.

And as I already have the pens in a different colour, I know they'll be brilliant.

I certainly wouldn't pay the $20+ then shipping that some sellers are looking for.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
