Any Ideas For Making An Ink Feather Less?

Can dilute with pure water, may help. Maybe a drier fountain pen than what you are using now, a finer pen. Usually, changing the paper or the ink is the common solution. Like replacing a Moleskin with a Quo Vadis notebook. Might try adjusting the nib tines to decrease the ink flow, less ink equals less feathering usually.

What if you applied a warm iron (Sunbeam) to the paper surface before writing ?

Switch to a DRYer pen.

That should choke down the ink flow so there won't be so much ink on the paper to feather.

I did that with a couple of really WET inks, and it worked just fine.

Shawng, One of our FPRs, Adam, did a series of tests. I had mentioned that glycerin was used to make an ink write wetter. Well, after 20 different tests, glycerin by itself, makes an ink dryer and you need to glycerin plus another chemical to make an ink wetter. So, you can try pure glycerin. Also, it slows down the dry time and prevents feathering.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I keep a bottle of glycerin in my baking cabinet. When I make a gingerbread house, I add a few drops of glycerin to icing. The resulting mixture dries very hard. It is the mortar for joining the panels of gingerbread. Are we talking of putting the same stuff into a fountain pen ?

So far I have tried watering down my ink, unfortunately it dulls the color but it does make the ink feather far less.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
