Noodler's 1 Oz Bottles

Recommended Posts

I am not new to this group or to the FPN, but for some reason, did not know about Noodler's 1 oz bottles. What is the reason for 1 oz as opposed to 3 oz? Are the 1 oz bottles available for all colors? If just for some colors, what would be the reason? Thanks for your answer, if you know anything about this subject. C. S.

Rare components where there simply is not enough material to make a lot of the ink. Better to let three times more customers try the ink.

Rare components where the price would have to be exorbitantly high if it was bottled in the standard 3 oz weight. Better to keep the price at a point where it is accessible to the most customers who want to try the ink.

Bottling more colors in 1 oz bottles was considered, but it increases the cost for customer since the manpower and logistics costs are the same for both 1 oz and 3 oz bottles.

Special order sizes are available. Contact your favorite authorized Noodler's Ink retailer to discuss special bottlings. Be aware not all colors are available and there is a lead time for special orders.

1 oz. bottles don't have any rare components. E.g. Fox Red which is a very old and common, "normal" Noodler's ink. Also, "The Alamo's Twilight" which is newer and a Dromgooles' ink is also a 1 oz. job. These are available only in 1 oz. bottles, and most other Noodler's colors are not available in that size.

Dromgoole's exclusive inks - some not all - are now available in 3 oz bottles. My favorite, Comanche Rouge was never reissued.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Why is Luxury Blue so expensive for only 1 oz? Always wondered that.

It has something to do with the expensive ingredients. If you like Luxury Blue (and for years it was my ink for contracts), you can use Upper Ganges, it too is UV reactive, but for a different UV range.

Comanche Rouge and Tanned Armadillo were made in 1oz bottles because some of the ingredients were no longer available.

Therefore, 3 times as many people got to enjoy. A friend went to the sore as well and have me his bottles.

And Dromgoole's exclusives start out as free 1oz. bottles at the Dallas Pen Show.

And thanks to Chemyst for the work he does.

What the what? Interesting post for a thread revival of sorts...

And how can comments by Chemyst not have *any* past affiliation with Noodler's ink?? LOL. Am I missing something here?

This is the second thread where "Luxury Brands" has claimed that Nathan Tardif's posts have no affiliation with Noodler's. Really weird. Is one of the two not who we think they are?

It's only that the Chemyst has no affiliation with Noodler's Ink.

And who do you mean by Chemyst? Nathan? And who are YOU?

Since Richard Egolf of Luxury Brands has passed away, the conclusion would be that John or Carol had to open a brand new account in order to communicate any information. Perhaps attempting to resurrect "Regolf" Richard Egolf's old account would have seemed even more suspect. or the passwords were unrecoverable. Either way Luxury Brands is Noodler's distributor and has been for quite some time. http://noodlersink.com/contact/

Bottom right is "Log In". If you are referring to the fact that Noodler's is distributed by Luxury Brands, LLC., we all know that. Distributed, not owned.

I question who user "Luxury Brands" really is, as they have only been on this site for two days, have only posted on two threads that have to do with the return of glass bottles and the 1 oz. size.

I personally do not believe this to be anything other than someone trying to bad mouth Nathan. Or what is commonly called a troll.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
