Akkerman Ink For Toronto Area And/or London Ontario

Hi!

I've been wanting to get some Akkerman ink from Holland. If you are in the Toronto or London area and would like to take part in a group buy so that we can all save on shipping costs, please get in touch. Pick up locations would be downtown Toronto or London Ontario.

Akkerman ink is 15euros per bottle, and shipping costs and/or tax will be split evenly by bottle. Akkerman is charging the following amount for shipping:

20 euro for 1-5 bottles

30 euro for 6-14 bottles

50 euro for 15-30 bottles

It is much cheaper than getting the ink from the US, which sells at USD27 not including shipping.

I was hoping that there is enough interest for me to ship 5 bottles from Netherlands, then we can split the 20euro shipping charges 5 ways. But as of now, only one person has got in touch about getting Akkerman ink, so that's just two bottles.

I'm going to wait till September/October comes about and get myself to a Toronto club meeting to see if there's any interest. If you are in Toronto or London Ontario, and you are interested in getting an Akkerman ink, please get in touch!

If you will attend Scriptus 2015, you may also generate some interest.

I love Akkerman #10, but now have enough for a lifetime.

(As for pick up, I live far from London ON & The Big Smoke.)

I have organized at least three Akkerman Group Buys for the Toronto Posse. There was one group buy done before I joined them. So, four Group Buys total.. just for Toronto.

I will suggest you joined the Toronto Posse. We are quite active. We also organize, Tomoe River Paper and BungBox Group Buys.

Re: Akkerman - I will suggest you get the 5 bottles and sell the rest. Shipping does goes down with numbers.

Hi!

I've been to the meetings... twice,... no three times I think. Once at CamH, and twice at brunch places. But I was living in London, which made it hard to attend meetings. Now that I'm back in Toronto, I'd love to join the Toronto Posse meetings more regularly. But it's all good. I had enough interest from London and already made the purchase. :)

Count me in!

I live in the Niagara area, but I'll figure it out.

Seems that's 3 of us

Gee, depending on final costs.... I might go for one 120ml and one 60ml !

Any interest in buying Akkerman ink in the Greater Toronto Area, we can split the shipping and taxes.

I'm new here today, lol.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
