Platinum Chartres Rhodium With Sf Nib?

bbs

Recommended Posts

Hi All, just wondering if the rhodium-plated version of the Chartres blue pen was available in an SF nib ....

I'm interested in trying this nib. I've already got a gold-plated Burgougne and wanted a different look for the Chartres. Is it possible?

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

It appears that not all of the nibs available for the 3776 Century are being offered for rhodium trim models. I was interested in the rhodium trim Chartres Blue until I noticed that the Ultra Extra Fine (or even an Extra Fine, for that matter) nib was not being offered - just Fine, Medium and Broad. This may be only the case in the United States, though.

Current Daily Carry: Pilot Custom 743 with 14k Posting nib (Sailor Kiwa-Guro), Sailor 1911L Realo Champagne with 21k Extra Fine nib (Sailor Tokiwa-Matsu). Platinum Century 3776 Bourgogne (Diamine Syrah), Nakaya Portable Writer Midori with 14k Extra Extra Fine nib (Lamy Peridot), Pilot Vanishing Point Stealth Black with Extra Fine nib unit (Pilot Blue Black), a dozen Nockco DotDash index cards of various sizes and a Traveler's Notebook.

Thanks - yes, I can't find any being offered for sale. What a shame!

what are you talking about? they should be the same... so you want to make a gold trim burgougne with a rhodium plated nib?

No, sorry for any confusion. I have a broad nib gold-plated Burgougne. I'm interested in an SF nib rhodium-plated Chartres, but I can't find anyone selling that nib in that trim.

I've seen a video on YouTube with the review of a Black 3776 with Rhodium Music Nib. At least this kind of nib will be available in the Chartres version?

hmmm weird the platinum home site didnt give anything about the nibs though...

most of the japanese blogs say its only F,M and B nib grades... what... or perhaps only 3 nibs will only be available to the first 2K pens? BOTH PENS

I think this could be the right version - on gold Chartres and Bourgogne the "exotic" (SF, C...) appeared latter...

It would be nice if the more "interesting" nibs would show up later. I'm guessing that the rhodium trim models are not true limited editions (as is the case with the original Chartres Blue and Bourgogne models). I wish this were the case with the true limited edition designs - the Shoji, Nice, NIce Pur, Yamanaka, Sai, Motosu, etc.

I see a music nib coming to my collection at some point. I need to get my hands on one, so I can see if it writes the way that I think it will. If I could have gotten one in the Shoji or the Nice, I would probably already have one.

I dont think Nice Pur is a limited edition pen... it had a numbered batched but thats it...

Even so, no special nibs for them. I was told today in my friendly but not so local pen store (2 hour drive if traffic is ideal) that there is a soft medium nib offered for the Yamanaka (which is stunning in person).

They did not say that a Soft Fine was available for the Yamanaka, they said that the Soft Medium was offered. I just checked with nibs.com and they show it, too.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
