Pelikan Hubs Dallas

Has anyone heard from the Dallas Hubmaster? I know a few folks who've registered and none of us have heard from him/her.

Not to worry. Pelikan's instructional email to the hub masters was a bit confusing as a result of English not being the first language. One line could be subject to interpretation. It either meant notify your group before 8/15 or not until after 8/15. I took it to mean before but others might have read it the other way. I wouldn't get to upset over it just yet.

The Pelikan Hub Dallas was great! Thanks to Hubmeister Ben Shepherd and all those who helped him organize the venue and event. Having the meet where we could enjoy food and beverages was a meisterstroke!

It turns out this is the only picture I took :(

Right after this I got busy testing the Edelstein inks, looking at the pens everyone got at the Dallas Pen Show and talking about any number of subjects - some of them actually having to do with Pelikan pens and inks! And I kinda forgot to take more pictures...

Well, I filled one pen with each of the inks so I could continue trying them out after I got home. Here is my sample page (I threw in a couple of Pelikan 4001 inks I had for comparison):

This was really a great group of people and I might just consider flying down from Colorado to join them gain next year...except this was so much fun that I have already sent off an email to Pelikan offering to host a Hub in Denver next year. We have some cool pen people in Colorado, too, and they deserve to get in on the fun!

We all got cartridges of Edelstein Amethyst (Ink o' the Year), a nice pen sleeve and a booklet describing all the Pelikan fine writing products. And we divvied up the remaining bottles of Edlestein.

Let's do this again!

I think everyone had a great time. I got to meet some great people. Greg has a great collection and showed us some unusual pens. I wan to give a shout out to Larry Dromgoole of Dromgoole's in Houston for giving us a copy of the book Pelikan - The Brand, for which we held a drawing and gave it one lucky attendee.

I look forward to doing this again next week.

Dallas Pelikan Hub was wonderful! Thanks to Hubmaster Ben for doing this for all of us and thanks to Pelikan for the swag and for the inks to test. Greg did a nice job above of showing the inks. There was also Mandarin which is a gorgeous orange color. I'm not a big orange fan, but this is yummy!!

Met some great people, sat next to Greg and his fantastic collection of birds and tried not to drool too much! Had jjcmcarty on the other side with yet another stunning collection or pens!

The attendees were a super fun bunch and the conversation was lively and enjoyable. Was great meeting all of you and would love to see everyone back next year.

I have only one decent photo as everyone was moving around quite a bit and most are blurry. The panoramic is hysterical as no one held still. :P

Ben shared the inks we had to try, so everyone went home with something fun! All in all it was a great night!

...I now own my first Pelikan! *beams*

(Side note: Is it this website or our internet, but the page keeps jumping to the sponsored videos at the bottom and typing lags. Very annoying.)

So, what's your point?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
