Inky Wishes

I wish that Noodler's would come out with a line of inks which sheen, shade, and have mad wonderful color.

I wish Sailor had not discontinued Sky High and will bring it back sometime in the future.

I wish there was a real replacement for Parker Penman Sapphire.

I wish I could find my perfect ink which would not go away forever.

How about you? What would you wish for regarding ink, you obsessed person*?

*I fully admit being obsessed, so don't feel like I'm name calling, it's more like giving it a name and being proud of it.

I wish I could retire from my wretched, thankless job and do nothing but play with inks all day.

I wish I knew Japanese and could attend pen and ink shows over there regularly.

I wish we could clone the dude who mixes Sailor inks.

I wish Sailor would find a new bottle manufacturer quickly.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

I wish for the perfect blue that shades, sheens, and is bulletproof.

I wish that all black ink was pulled from the market.

All of the above (har, har, but seriously)... plus... I wish that Montblanc would get their own inks available in Germany at least as fast as they do in California (or in the U.K. for that matter). How cum the U.S. can buy MB inks there, two months earlier than the Krauts can here? Also, that Lamy would sell all of their bottled inks (e.g. Copper Orange) in Germany like they do in the States.

This. I also wish the bottles of ink I bought and grew bored with would magically disappear. And I wish I could find one measly bottle of MB Jonathan Swift for less than $50.

I wish ScienceChick would send me all the ink she got bored of using... and I wish the RealScubaSteve would stop picking on me for writing my letters in black ink :P Yes, RSS, I know I have a problem but I am working on it!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

+1 I wish I could really retire, and do nothing but play with inks all day.

  • I wish I could find my perfect red-black ink, black with just a hint of red.
  • I wish inks would not fade so much after I write with them. Yeah its probably my cheap paper.
  • I wish my ink would magically appear as I wish it to look, vs. how my handwriting makes it look.
  • I wish people would not pick on us folks who like black ink.
  • I wish I could afford to buy all the inks (and pens) that I want.
  • I wish that more people will come to the SF Pen Show, and make it bigger and better.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
