Dear FPN Friends,

some of you might know I love inks.... But do you know....

I also love Espresso????????

Well I was very delighted when I received the following:

http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Sailor%20Bung%20Bocx%20espresso/SAILOR%20eSPRESSO%20FIRST%20PAGE%20FPN_zpsokfgnese.jpg

This immediately caused me some scientific curiosity. So I therefore set up a scientific experience

Following Thesises where made

  • Is is possible to write with the Lavazza Espresso
  • Is it possible to dink the Sailor Espresso
  • Are correltations in writing baviour profound
  • Is there a gustatoric and Olfactoric correlation
Abstract

  • Yes
  • Yes
  • Yes
  • Yes
Well that must be the shortest Abstract in scientific history... But well check my FPN Profile.... I am nutty but ot a Professor :headsmack:

Scientific Tools a assesment

Paper Used: Walzmühle Refelx Wasserzeichen

Pens Used: Sailor Espresso Lamy Al Star B Nib; Lavazza Espresso Glass dip pen (see first Photo right lateral of coffee Cup)

I TRULY USED COFFE TO WRITE WITH in this case a double dose of Lavazaa coffe powder (15gr) for a ristretto Half an espresso

Erratum the following picture shows a "Blowing my nose with ink" comparison not an Ink-vomitus

http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Sailor%20Bung%20Bocx%20espresso/sailor%20espresso%20Ink%20vomitus%20cmp_zps3oxxet44.jpg

Next Picture is the correct and validated Ink Vomitus comparison

The specific scientific Details and Background statistics behind each separate Espresso can be found in the handwritten text below

specifcations of the 2 espresso-liquids

Gustatoric, Olfactoric witng differences and scientific difficulties

Writing Behaviour

Both inks are very wet and therefore ultra-smooth. In further test no Feathering was visible. There is a significant difference in Saturation between Lavazza and Sailor Espresso the latter be much more saturated. Therefore more showthroughis present in the Sailor Espresso.

No differences in Shading-Behaviour could be made manifest between each seperate Espresso-liquid.

Tasting Notes

http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Sailor%20Bung%20Bocx%20espresso/Tongue%20very%20small_zpsajnyzuhq.jpg

Residues of Sailor Espresso on my tongue

The Lavazza positively scored on all gustatoric test subjects

Further Difficulties... I ket licking the tip of my glass pen

Taste is pleasant and long lasting pleasantly bitter and creamy with a nice sweet nutty note in the after taste

The Sailor Espresso proved to be truly horrible in taste.. It left residues behind that took 5 minutes of extensive tongue brushing with an electric Philips toothbrush to remove the dark brown stains

Boths Espresso Liquids scored positively in the subsequent Olfactoric tests

The Sailor reminding of an undistict but pleasant scent know from the Sailor Jentle Shigure ink

The Lavazza reminded me of the exceleent Espresso coffees on in the coffee bars surrounding Lake Garda (Northrern Italy)

Availability

This is where the Sailor Espresso showed a most significant difference to the other Epresso-Liquids and Hot-Writing Beverages

The Sailor Espresso is only limitedly availble and the channels for obtaining the Sailor Espresso are unclear

The Lavazza Liquid ca be obtained via

The Herbin ad De Atramentis liquids can be obtained in the following mysteirous ways

Too Conclude

I love both the Sailor and the Lavazza Espresso

I strongly suggest though, to...

... drink the Lavazza :puddle:

And write with the Sailor :D

Thanks, very good. But I thought Lavazza was an Italian coffee, and it must be easy to get from Italy.

And I thoroughly agree with you as I too love Sailor inks.

Delightful review, and both look great. For anyone who can't get Lavazza, Sailor's Shinkaichi Gold is the closest match.

Ebay seller cool-japan. Check reviews to make sure it's what you want, as it's darker and greener than the picture in "Ink vomitus" but close to some of the variation in the first picture under "Handwritten text comparison."

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
