Best Paper Lamy 2000 Medium/iroshizuku Ink

I just got the Iroshizuku Chiku-rin for my Lamy 2000M with a medium nib, and the ink is GORGEOUS, but too wet for the notebooks I bought for school, and it bleeds through. Can anyone recommend a (preferably hardcover) notebook that is appropriate for school that can withstand really wet inks? Thanks!!

Try to look for Black n' Red, they use Oxford Optic paper which is very FP friendly albeit not as smooth as clairefontaine or rhodia, but perhaps better for school use, they do have Hardcovers, just a matter of finding them cheap :)

I ended up buying Staples Eco with sugar paper. Works pretty well with just some show through and a VERY small amount of bleed.

Clarfontaine Notebooks and Rhodia Note Pads. Not hard covered, but holds up quite well.

Also, an extra fine (western) nib helps to reduce feathering and bleed through, but I don't believe the 2000's nib is interchangeable.

In addition to the ones already mentioned --

Nu: Elite

Double A

Little Finch, supplied by Aldi if you have Aldi in your area

Campus by Kokuyo, soft cover but excellent paper. They also have refill paper but you will need binders to match. They have special 20 hole binders but will also fit 2 ring binders.

These are all relatively inexpensive (except possibly for the Campus, it depends on your local distributor)

Yeah, I may have to try another kind of notebook besides the eco sugar paper from Staples. I'm not sure how I feel about this now. I don't like the look of the campus notebooks, but maybe I'll have to get some 90g CF. UGHH if only I didn't love this ink so much haha. http://i60.tinypic.com/12543up.jpghttp://i59.tinypic.com/pxjf4.jpg

I can also recommend Black N Red brand notebooks. I use a hardcover notebook for my pen log. So this paper has worked with everything from Noodlers to Iroshizuku to KWZI to Pelikan, modern to vintage nibs, and Japanese XF to Western B. The price is great, and the durability has been excellent.

I'll grab a black and red. They just didn't have any hardcover ones at the Staples I went to, and another group said that Eco was good for really wet ink, but alas...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
