Pretty, but seems close to Diamine Deep Dark Purple, from Cult Pens, so I guess this is one I don't need. :)

I hope so because I have the DDP and find it a pain in the ahh y'know to order and pay and wait and visit customs for such a Sailor.

I hated this entire line of deep dark inks. your scan makes it look much more purple than it looked when I used it. It looked really, really black, and in the very few lighter areas, it looked like a murky purple rather than the rich one your scan shows. It looked more like Kobe #9, the purple suma I hated. But mostly it just looks black. I'm definitely selling this one as samples at the Toronto pen show.

Hmm, maybe my pen isn't as wet as yours. I don't hate it, but I'm not crazy for it either.

Another writing sample: Pilot 912 FA nib and Maruman looseleaf.

Is the color all that different from Bungbox Ink of the Witch? I know you didn't have the Bungbox color at the time of review, but perhaps you've received a sample by now?

A "strange kind of ..." ink "never before" seen, but to complete the series, now we need a "Black night" ink. I will ask "Ted the mechanic" if he has this ink, alternatively the "kentucky woman" (a "perfect strangers" for me) could produce one.

OMG, I NEED this ink. Where can I find it? I have decided that Purple Blacks are my great love. DDP didn't motivate me like Ebony Purple, Sankodo Nishikisan and Ink of the Witch. I love these.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

OH, I'll write you a letter with Ink of the Witch, I'm still inked up so we can do a CRV.

Like it! But I have to use up a lot of ink before I can justify hunting more this year.

 :lticaptd:  :lticaptd:

I try not to let little things like justification or eating interfere with ink purchases.

Never fear, this year (2015) is almost over. Hougado Pen Gallery has a shop on rakuten, but their inks all sold out. Also on their yahoo.jp shop. Maybe someone knows the ink speculators and can find some through them.

But such speculation support I not. (said Yoda style.)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
