I bought a 45 on ebay and ordered some Quink long cartridges. They aren't fitting. The ones I bought are on the top. Do I need the cartridge on the bottom?

I've used some cartridges with my P45s and they were more that top shape. I've never seen any that look like the bottom.
How are they not fitting? Are they not attaching to the section or are they too long for the barrel?

They aren't attaching in the section. The cartridges pictured on the bottom look more similar to the converter, so I'm just wondering if the newer cartridge isn't compatible.

The ones on top are the standard Parker cartridges that I have used in several Parker 45's for decades. Since this pen is new to you, are you certain that everything is intact inside the pen ?
Might it need cleaning ?

I wish I could get a good pic inside the section. There's a plastic ring inside the section that looks like it would take a skinnier cartridge

Brian,
I'm beginning to think it's a broken converter. But it really appears to be molded to the plastic internally. I don't know if anyone's ever converted a P45 to an eyedropper...but this is baffling me.

There is some info here showing the collector, shell, and feed: http://pencollect.co.uk/parker45.htm

The ones at the bottom are double ended, one end is international sized, the other Parker/Lamy sized. You should be using the end with the blue insert in a Parker.

Thanks, everyone. From what I can gather, it's as if there is either a broken converter in the section that I can't get out or this pen is an anomaly of some kind...

All of the Parker cartridges and converters SHOULD fit the Parker 45 - but you often come across things stuffed inside the either the section or the barrel. If you can't get what ever it is out soak the pen in luke warm water for a while, sometimes dried ink will act like glue so soaking it should loosen it. Then carefully try to ease it out without damaging the seal.

Thanks, Mike, I will definitely do that.

FINALLY!!! I worked and prodded and after drilling...yes, drilling (gently ) I got out what looks like a broken off converter that was somehow glued into the pen...it smelled like super glue when I was getting it out. Unbelievable. Thank you all
