At Last....a Collection.

Up until yesterday I only had 2 Waterman pens, A red marble Laureate and a gunmetal Supermaster, which I couldn't really call a collection, but not now, oh no!, Now I have got myself a collection.

Ok, it's still only 3 pens, but the addition of my new Centurion, in my mind permits me to call it so.

I can't wait, it should be here in the next day or so, and if it writes like my other 2 I'll be a happy bunny.

There's something about Watermans that I just love, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is.

NEXT STOP......Vintage semi-flex, although I have no idea what it will be, or when it will happen, but that's all part of the fun.

I really like Waterman LeMans 100s. I have several of them. I recently purchased an Exception Day and Night. It reminds me of what I like about Waterman pens. I hope you continue to enjoy your collection.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Photos?.........

:)

I know it's probably Franks' Le mans that you want to see, but hey...here's my 3.

Sorry about the pic quality, it doesn't show the colour of the Centurion which is a kind of mottled green/grey.

It writes like a dream, although the grip section is a bit small for my chubby bangers for long writing sessions, but it's a Waterman, It's beautiful, and It writes like a Waterman writes.....and, in total, it cost me the princely sum of £7.49.....Oh Yeah B) .

Here's a better pic of the Centurion, which shows the colour and pattern better.

It really is a lovely writing pen, very smooth.

That red and black Laureat looks like a Laureat II. I have one that looks just like it.

When I used to hang out at antique shows I was told by a couple of dealers (with no self-interest at all) that once you have have three of something you have a collection, and therefore obligated to get more.

Hahaha, that's exactly why I was keen to get to 3, and now there is no way back.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
