Didn't read any of that, too busy looking at your gorgeous sketch

Thanks Tas, but I really need to go back to perspective study and get it right. I'm working towards 100 drawings just to get myself motivated, but sketching 100 junky ones don't really help me, I am starting to realise... Going back to the drawing board (oh, see what I did just then??). ;)

Walk softly and carry a big nib : there are so many enthralling photos on this thread and here I am using an eraser to hold my cap in place.

Beautiful pen! I use eraser to keep pens steady too, but mine is kneaded eraser. :)

It's lovely that you and your wife are restoring pens together! That would be doubly fun, I imagine.

Is that a hawk or eagle on your Aristokrat pen's nib? That's nice!

And that Visconti Blue ink in your Waterman is so intense looking. It just went on my list. :)

Over the moon... :happycloud9:

Review with more photos in the review section.

I love what that nib is doing to your handwriting! Lovely flowy elegant hand. And the pen is gorgeous. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your review and your photos on your review thread.

Waterman 15 with Visconti Blue

Your beautiful hand and the birdie is unmistakable. What's Inkluminati?

And Visconti Blue ink! I need to get that ink pronto. It looks really nice.

It's stamped 0 (zero) with no visible dots, so as far as I know, it was made in 1940, fourth quarter. A previous owner chewed the heck out of the blind cap, it's of no moment to me except that it made the pen less expensive. Muwahahahahaha. Grrr. Looking at the photos vs. the scanner, I'm going to have to attempt calibrating that sucker, the colour is off to cyan-green. Drat.

Nooo, believe me, you've got it right ! Leave all that accurate stuff to the architects etc.

I have always been fascinated by that pen, reminds me of a fighter jet, the custom ground nib is exciting to see as well! The only problem I have with metal pens is they just feel weird to me when I write.....I know, its me being weird not the pen. ;)

I think the bird is some sort of predatory bird probably a hawk....Looks like he is sticking his tongue out at me. The Visconti blue is nice, but I am partial to blue inks. Theinkluminati definitely does the color justice in his Waterman with the beautiful handwriting.

Ulrike at the Montblanc Boutique in Charlotte sent this pen off to Hamburg for the nib exchange. It's an other worldly writing experience, to put it mildly. Oh, I know about the fingerprints but to do a take on a famous quote : I've had fingerprints on plastic and I've had fingerprints on silver and . . . (you know the rest).

Silver is butter. (!!!)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
