Don't Just Tell Us About The Pen You're Using, *show* Us! - 2015

The old topic was again becoming very large and reacting sluggish.

I got this along with the Gama Hawk a while back when Asa Pens was having the group buy with the Jowo nibs. It's huge size makes it quite comfortable to write with, but it doesn't really leave my desk due to the fact that the pen's enormity doesn't scream "traveler."

Congrats! I had my eyes on this one! ;)

There's actually a very similar one (a little different model) on the same website where this one was advertised. ;)

Another gorgeous pen. That's truly regal looking. I don't know why, but it reminds me of an elephant. Maybe the clip? (but don't see how) It just has that solidity, stateliness and splendor. Looks big, too.

I am continually amazed that everyone has such nice pens. So, lowering the tone considerably, this is what I was playing with for a bit today. Frankenstein-like but it seems to work okay. Please forgive the atrocious handwriting. I know nothing of calligraphy.

Esties with Osmiroid!!! Love that combination. I rock that periodically too. Nice green dollar! The only Dollar pen I have is black and looks more like a banana than a pen. Sigh.

Houston, now THAT'S a nib! I'm not familiar with the imprint on the nib as it is different from other OMAS nibs I've seen; it doesn't seem possible to have a nib that would match the beauty of the Arco celluloid, but that one does it.

Cardboard_Tube - I had forgotten the Osmiroid nibs would screw into an Esterbrook section, nicely done. I was using an Estie earlier this week, a green one that doesn't have near the depth of yours. Believe me there's no shame in using any pen that works, much less an Esterbrook. Great writing, too.

Here's what I'm using in the office today:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
