Potential Pen Storarage

Recommended Posts

I often search ebay for boxes with potential for conversion and every now and then I find one of these

5 drawers with an extra large on at the bottom, I don't have room for this or the pens to fill it but if you did it would be stunning.

I think that's a beautiful cabinet. Replacing the interior with pen liner inserts would do the trick, and I think that's all it needs. Good find!

Wow, that looks great, perfect for me. I wonder what it will end uip going for?. I suppose shipping from GB to Washington State USA would be very expensive.

My, you could fit a pen or two in that bad boy. And ink in the bottom drawer. Nice.

WOW! That first oak chest would be PERFECT for my "former obsession" (prior to current PEN) & would not need conversion! I could fill it SEVERAL times over as I innocently "traded" two complete sets of sterling flatware for three different ones that were "more appealing." Let us just say as apparently happens with this PEN hobby those three sets multiplied & I @ one time found myself with 37 place settings in ONE pattern! I stopped acquiring after that & although I sold a LOT I still could easily serve more persons than my house would accommodate!

I did send this listing to a friend who instantly replied that he concurred it was a most enviable chest. They just do not "make them like that anymore!"

Many thanks for sharing these listings.

That would be perfect. And it's an easy conversion. Here's a similar item that I found a while ago. This was a silverware chest. The dividers all just lifted out and I've stored them in the very back of the bottom section so that it could be converted back to its original configuration in a matter of minutes.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
