Note Cards

I'm looking for better note cards. I carry a Shirt Pocket Briefcase from Levenger. It fits in my suit pocket and I can get a substantial amount of info onto each card. I currently have it filled with Levenger note cards with little green crosses instead of lines, similar to dot ruled paper. Disappointingly, especially as Levenger bills itself as writer friendly and sells fountain pens and ink, the paper bleeds. Not significantly, but enough feathering that I'm annoyed. I use Noodler's Ottoman Azure, and it doesn't seem to be a terribly feathery ink. Anyone know if a dot or grid ruled note card that is feathering resistant?

I too love the Nock cards, great for fountain pens but also fast drying, unlike Rhodia and Clairefontaine paper.

Nock cards are worth a try.

This is a writing sample on amber dotdash Nock card (made for a review of the pen, not the card). First time I'd used Nock stationery. You might be able to make out a little feathering - on the L and E of 'CHARLIE', for example - but not much.

I have the dusty blue Nock cards as well. Haven't tried them yet.

I'm not much help here. I can't remember where I got these, No manufacture marking on cards. I'm hopeful someone will read this and pin a name on them. Cube of 2.0 mm size. Red Band at top running Horizontal width of the card, 7.0 mm tall. Light grey similar band at bottom of card, 12 mm tall. Back side top 50% Red Horizontal band and 50% grey 12 mm tall. Bottom of card a full Grey 12.0 mm tall band horizontally., also 12.0 mm tall. They work with any ink I 've tried, no feathering, no bleeding. Not tried BSB, but regularly use Noodlers HOD and widow Maker, with no issues. Can anybody help me out here and put a name on this card?

Maybe some pics? I'm intrigued.

I use Daiso 3x5 notecards. They have blank, vertical ruled, and grid. The white ones are 100 to a pack and the colored ones are 80 to a pack, each for $1.50 and tax. :)

Great stuff.

If you'd like, I would be more than happy to send you a few sample sheets. I'm not sure how easy they are to find where you are, but we can always work something out if you end up wanting packs. :)

rocky99: Shoot me an Email B/C with a mailing address and I'll send you 8-10 of them

That way you can check them out in person. Jim jimhughes on FPN.

I buy the Daiso too in grid. They are fantastic value. The colour ones vary a little in terms of FP worthiness but the grid on white made in Indonesia are fantastic.

Do you get them at a local retailer? Online?

I get them at Daiso - it's like a Japanese 100 yen shop. :) I think you can get them online, but only by the case.

Got the cards last night! Thanks Jim! I'll try to post some pics to see if anyone can identify the ones with red and gray at the edges.

I'm not much of a Photographer. Lets hope someone can come up with a source for them. Wish I could remember where I got them. Unfortunately my home office has piles of notebooks, paper and stationary.

I'm accused by SWMBO that I have 10 lifetimes supply of paper. But I can't tell you my source. If something looks good or has a good rep I stock up. Let us know how the Nock and Mystery cards work for you.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
