Where Can I Find A Cap For This Pen?

Hi,

Recently I received a few pens and among them there was this Sheaffer Touchdown TM. It doesn't have a cap so I can't say which model it is. According to my research it could be a Crest, a Signature, a Sentinel or a Valiant. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

The color of the pen is probably Persian Blue, according to Richard Binder's reference page.

The pen seems to be in pretty good shape and the 14K two tone nib is also in excelent condittion. It only requires a new sac and o-ring replacement. But to put this pen in use again I need to find a cap.

I'd appreciate if you could tell me where can I find one.

Thanks

Claude

Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but the bodies are interchangeable, and aside from the nib, the cap/trim is what defines what model it is. So hypothetically, any TM or Snorkel cap would fit, and the ones you identified would correctly match.

10 years on PFN! I feel old, but not as old as my pens.

The TM Snorkel has a slightly longer barrel than the TM Touchdown. You're right, you could interchange caps between them. With the OP's "Persian" Blue, best bet is metal cap since there is no Persian Blue plastic capped Snorkel.

noted that yours is a blue pen and this is a black cap, if no one else puts their hand up with an offer for a blue cap do you want this black cap?

Hi Beechwood,

That's a kind offer that I can't refuse. It will allow me to put the pen in use until I find a matching cap.

I tried to send you my adress through a message, but some error ocurred. Please let me know how can I send you my adress.

Thank you very much.

Claude

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
