Anyone Going To The Pelikan Hubs?

Well, obviously the Hub isn't "invitation-only", it's "by registration only". (But the concept is somewhat analogous.)

I understood that anyone was welcome to come... just don't expect a swag bag.. that was by registration.

IN any case... I have no pelikans.. and I am still going... :P

Good job! Ownership of one or more Pelikans is definitely NOT a requirement for attendance, and everyone was welcome to register.

But -- big but -- even if you do know the Hub's location, if you didn't register with Pelikan please confirm ("register") with your Hub jockey before coming, to make sure that there's room for you. Don't just "show up". Many if not most venues will have max capacity limitations.

Thanks for the kind invitations. I don't think the 64 Valiant will make it to either on short notice but it is a thought for future road trips.

I'm am gaining more of an understanding of the how this works. Seems odd though that Pelikan would not defray some or all of the costs associated with the events.

I have a proposal for Pelikan. Have them contact me.

San Francisco International Pen Show - The next “Funnest Pen Show” is on schedule for August 23-24-25, 2024.  Watch the show website for registration details.

My PM box is usually full. Just email me: my last name at the google mail address.

For those in the Portland area. We are lucky enough to have an event space that can hold a lot of people.

Please let me know asap if you're in the area and want to try out the inks and see some awesome pens (there are a few collectors attending with some awesome pens).

We won't have swag for you, but this event is intended to promote a love of all fountain pens (not just Pelikans), so feel free to let me know. We can probably handle a few (say 10ish) more.

The Dallas Hub ended up being smaller than expected but I had a GREAT time. I met some fun, very interesting folks and saw some beautiful pens - both Pelikan and non. Thanks to Pelikan and the Dallas Hubmaster for such an enjoyable evening.

Guys, we forgot to post pics!

I must echo ScienceChick's sentiments: Boston was also smaller than expected -- couple of "no-shows". We enjoyed ourselves and I made new friends. Lovely evening: thank you to our very own Hubmaster -- er, -mistress!

Philadelphia also was subject to a number of no shows but the group was great. I met a lot of awesome people and saw some great pens. I really enjoyed the experience. The venue was wonderful and the food was great. Looking forward to next year already.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

I had about an hour free so decided to go at the last minute since our hubmaster had informed that there were going to be a few no-show's.

I was able to meet some nice people and really enjoyed in whatever brief time I had. Took along my Nakaya too. :)

Also, managed to try some Pelikan Amethyst about which I was in some confusion on whether to buy it or not. For some cartridges and tried it out took. Nice color so 2 bottles coming up. :)

This is the only pic I got (then I got busy testing inks and talking and I forgot to take more...):

Thank you, Christopher! I had a blast planning it, and I'm SO happy to have met new friends! I've applied again this year, hopefully Boston is chosen again. If I am chosen as HubMistress (thanks, I like it!!), I would pick a place with better lighting.

The folks here in Colorado are registering for a Denver Pelikan Hub this year.

Anyone interested in a Denver Pelikan Hub in 2016 should go here http://www.pelikan.com/pulse/Pulsar/en_US.CMS.displayCMS.206789./pelikan-hubs-2016, click on the "Register Here" link, put Denver in as your city of choice and be sure to reply to the confirmation email you get.

Any of my Pelikan Hub friends from Dallas last year are very welcome to come enjoy Denver this September (and then come back for our Pen Show in October!).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
