Empty Ink Cartridges?

Does anyone know where I can buy empty MB short ink cartridges?

My Etiole came back from its nib swap (YAY), but sadly the monteverde mini converters do not fit as the neck is still too wide and the end does not fit snugly. :(

EDIT: I may have solved my converter problem. The Monteverde mini does not fit, but the regular international size converter seems to fit fine. Note that the standard K5 schmidt converter will not fit because the neck is too wide at the front, but for some reason the Monteverdes are working out for me.

My original question still stands though - anyone know where you can buy a supply of empty MB cartridges, or am I stuck with making my own by emptying out a few?

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

I don't know where you can buy them. However, any international short cartridge will work and there are loads of inks available in that format.

Since I usually fill empty cartridges with bottled ink, it never bothered me to empty and flush a full cartridge and re-fill it with the ink of my choice.

No one to my knowledge sells empty cartridges of any type.

I recently got a new pen (a Kickstarter pen) that uses the short international cartridges and is too small to take any converter. I had no qualms about emptying some filled Pilot or MB cartridge that I've had sitting around for several years. Life it to short not to use an ink of my choice because it doesn't come in cartridges.

You can buy empty international short cartridges off Ali Baba and eBay.

Unfortunately, most of 'em are only available in lots of thousands. Every once in awhile though, a Chinese manufacturer will have an overrun, and offer up a couple dozen or hundred for fractions of a penny each.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
