New Pelikan M201 Bayou For Fph

I didn't see this posted yet. Fountain Pen Hospital looks to be getting an exclusive release from Pelikan and it's going to be limited to just 100 pieces. It's an M200 designated M201 and it looks very different than anything Pelikan has put out recently. The finish is called Bayou and its a swirl of brown, blue, and black. I'm loving the look of this one but am sad that there are only going to be 100 of them out there. I think a lot of people are going to be left out on this one. I wrote about it on my blog here and this is the direct link to FPH.

What do you guys think of this one? I love it. Bummer that there are only 100 (ahem) 99 available. Thought I'd post this here now though so anyone who wants one can get in sooner rather than later. These should be available in August and are going to run $179.

Really like the look of this, much nicer than the new pink thing .... Congrats on your pre-purchase!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Looks like a remake sleeve of M620 Grand Place. GP is one of my favourite pen but I wish Pelikan could be more creative than doing a remake.

Just my 2c.

That's interesting-looking! I might be tempted if I weren't already planning on getting the amethyst demonstrator.

I am going to regret not getting this one. But I spent all my budget for this year buying my second Cognac. Very nice. Almost as nice as the brown stripped one. It is certainly a pity that nowadays pink-candy-stick pens seem to be more 'marketable' than the brown ones... Pelikan made fantastic brown pens in the past and I am sad that today they have —as far as I know— only one in their catalogue: the M800 tortoiseshell-brown, which is —forgetting the price— too big for my taste.

The design is good, the price is good. Should hold myself back until next month due to budget constrain now. Spent too much on 3 pens this month.

If next month this one still available, i will get it.

I agree that it's similar to the M620 but still nice to see this type of finish come to the M2xx line.

That M620 is a beauty. Haven't seen that before.

Cool looking pen! Too bad I already have a m200 and just ordered a m800. The m200 size is a little too small for me, anyways.

Thanks for the post. I actually saw it first on The Pelikan's Perch, since I receive the emails.

Already snatched one :D . I actually love that it resembles the Grand Place, since I never had the opportunity to get that one.

And I was doing so well... It had been 31 days without buying a pen!

Such a gorgeous pen, especially with Waterman Havana Brown...but with other Pelikans in the aviary and a $22 shipping charge to the UK...I'm going to have to think about it.

My first impulse said....buy...even at that price.

My wallet is unfortunately undergoing Withdraw Symptom Therapy.

Pretty pen. I want a Grand Place....

Therefor, I have to double my speculative investments.

I won't go for it. As a proud owner of a M620 Grand Place I'll leave the remaining 96 to some other collectors. :D

As new pens go, this one hits the sweet spot:

It's a pelikan, it's a nice looking brown, (brown and green pens have a leg up with me), and ... an italic nib! It's been a while since I have bought a pen and I must admit I have been watching for one of several vintage pens. but with the limited number of these that are, or will be available I thought it was a good place to go off the rails a but. I've placed an order.

I have a Kaigelu which looks a lot like this.

Thanks for posting this. Why does Pelikan keep coming up with these nice limited edition pens? (I already know the answer.)

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

I'm glad to see so many fellow enthusiast getting in on this release. I wonder how many pens are left to sell at this point.

Ooooh, it's pretty, and different, and pretty, and just the right size for my petite hands, and pretty, and I need another fountain pen like I need a hole in my head.

I'm still thinking about pulling the trigger on the M400 White Tortoise. White tortoise or brown bayou? White or brown?

This is always the dilemma ... what to get next? Oh and did I mention I'm on a pen ban? That was 9 pens ago.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
