Help Identifying A Pelikan

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I recently lost my Pelikan that I've had for a number of years now, and I've been trying to find a replacement online with no luck. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me figure out what model it is so I can narrow down my search. I know it was an M200 demonstrator, but it was a particular blue (almost a mix of blue and gray) that I can't seem to find anywhere. I have even tried just looking for a picture of it on Google at least, but that has been unsuccessful as well. Is there a resource I might be able to turn to? I really loved this pen and would really like to replace it with an identical one.

Thank you so much for your help.

I'm sorry that you lost your pen. Knowing it was an M200 though is very helpful. Take a look at the pics on this page; http://thepelikansperch.com/database/fountain-pens/m2xx/m200/

Should be easy to figure out. There was a deep blue M200 demo and a grey demo called anthracite. I have a suspicion that the anthracite demo is what you're describing but it isn't really bluish in my eyes. Any of those pics look like your lost pen? It may be difficult to replace as these are now long discontinued. You likely can find one but it will take some time and patience.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

Yes, the anthracite demo is exactly it! Thank you so much! I remember reading somewhere years ago that this color was particularly hard to find =/ Do you have any suggestions for good places to look for it?

It's not the easiest to track down. You can keep an eye on eBay as they do pop up from time to time. Martini Auctions is another source but I don't believe Regina has any listed right now. Penboard.de could be another place to look. I'll keep my eyes open and let you know if I run across one. Good luck in your search. Be patient and one will turn up.

I am sorry to hear that. The M200 Anthracite is —along with the Cognac that I own— my favourite among M200 demonstrators. I never got the chance of buying one on Ebay. I actually bought a second Cognac —yes, now I can sleep well knowing I have a replacement, just in case anything happens...

If your search is not successful I would suggest having a look to the Cognac (particularly if you use creamish paper). You can still find them in many places. Anyway, I wish you good luck. If you loved the Anthracite I think you will not be completely happy with any other colour.

And, by the way, I also keep the hope of a new realease of the Anthracite. The Cognac was almost identical to the M200 Amber that was released years before...

just saw one on a local classifieds ad....here .

if you are really interested you may ask the seller to list it for you on ebay or open a paypal account.

but I won't actually recommend it.

you may also try user printhardcopy on ebay. I think he is a member here.

edited to add--- not affiliated to the sellers mentioned in any way.

That would be fantastic if they could re-release it! I like how the color is different in a subtle way.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
