That is very cool. I wish I had one, because I was able to buy one of the extremely rare bottles of ink that Montblanc issued specifically for use in its factory demonstrator pens. You can see the bottle is about half-full of this special formula.

Not $1436 nice. If it were one of the stock demonstrators, that would be justified but that price for a custom one is just too high. But yeah, demos are nice and 149 is nice, so a nice combination.

Fred, thanks for showing the bottle in the box so we can have a clear picture of how it was sold when new. Clearly a very rare item!

Best,

Eh? Do I sense doubt?

I have found it difficult to follow the printed instructions because of the lack of opacity of the ink.

So ... not really a Montblanc.

I've mixed feelings for demonstrators. Sometimes I like them, other times I don't.

This one didn't cut it for me. I wonder if the fact that it was a custom build, rather than a rare find, put me off?

Or was it the rhodium parts and the 75 nib made the whole thing a bit...well ... over the top?

Thanks for sharing, though. Interesting stuff.

I have been considering this combination for some time. Please post some writing samples. A formal ink review would also be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

I was disappointed in the shading, unfortunately. But at least it was easy to clean from the pen.

Here is a writing sample. I apologize for my messy handwriting.

So I when to the eBay link.

In the eBay information it has the pen as being located in Iowa USA. But the the seller adds more if stating a writing error and that he is in actuality "a Seller Korea". I am not sure what that means, is it his name or in actuallity the pen is Located in Korea.

Uhhhhmmm?

But the sheen is incredible. Copperplate is not that easy to master!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
