Sigh! Sometimes You Just Can't Win - German Postal Strike- :(

I bought a Pelikan at a great price out of Germany.

No delivery for a while, so I contacted (the very reliable) seller.

Apparently the German postal system is on strike. Today's news reports say "no end in sight"

At least I have a few pens to use until the new one arrives.....

Well, it's only a part of the employees that are on a strike! I doubt it'll get delayed much more than a day or two.

This figures... I just ordered a pen from Germany a little over a week ago. It's still showing as "Acceptance" on the tracking. I suppose I should check up on it...

Exact same time frame, and exact same message for mine. I think "acceptance" means your pen is turning vintage, sitting in a pile somewhere.

Maybe it will work better when it finally arrives.

I have ordered a pen from Germany early last month, and it took almost one month to get a status change to "Arrived Singapore". For the rest 20+ days, it read "Acceptance".

And just FYI, I have sent the pen back to Germany for nib smoothing, well... Luckily I may have my pen back with another 2 months... Gee

I was in Germany for business about one month ago, and you has the train conductors sindacata in strike on that week.

Life was even more complicated, as nobody knew when trains were leaving and arriving .....

We were used to that situation here in Italy too, in the 70's and 80's but not anymore recently.

Mine is finally showing an update on the tracking, saying it is in New York. Fingers crossed for your package!

A pen of mine was sent as a letter. It was supposed to be delivered within 2-3 days (under normal conditions) and it has been almost a week now. So while things are improving, the delays are still there.

I'm preparing myself for a long wait :(

The post didn't come at all the last days. But a colleague got a parcel which took a bit over three weeks.

Mine finally arrived - took 3+ weeks.

Once the USPS had it, moved quickly.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
