Sailor Profit Standard 21 kt Zoom Nib

Pilot Custom 742 wa

Both in the EDC right now, along with a Pilot Metal Falcon sf, a Sailor 1911 L m and a Pilot Falcon sef....

The Stylo Art is absolutely beautiful. BTW, how long you need to wait for it?

Thanks for the compliments. I was drawn to it immediately. Luckily for me I did not have to wait. It was sitting there waiting for me at the SF pen show. So, about 5 minutes for paypal top go through. :)

Talking to others, I think the wait for a similar pen might be 6 months as each piece is hand laid.

Of course I like the idea! I find these pens the most technically well done, simple, no frills, no problems. That's why I am selling the few vintage XXXX I have in favor of the modern.

Here are a few of the Namiki Falcon

And here is my other Pilot above $100. All the others are less expensive but not less appreciated. I specially love the B 78G and the F Metropolitan.

I've grown to really like Pilot's soft nibs. I have two Metal Falcons and a Justus (original, not the 95) on the way and I expect to love it as much as my Falcons, if not more. I love Pilot's pen designs and I've sold off a few of my pens just to pay for them.

Very nice. Looks like a Custom Heritage 912 with a soft fine nib? How does it compare to the Falcon soft fine in your previous post?

Well, my collection of Platinum Century 3776's has grown by one. Joining the Bourgogne, Chartres Blue, and Black is...

... the Platinum Century 3776 Koi Celluloid!

Can't wait to get my hands on this one! It'll be my first celluloid pen, and my first 'premium level' Japanese pen! In the meantime, I'll try not to think about the hole this has put in my bank account...

I've been eyeing this one, and the Sakura, for some time. Please post again once it's in your hands and inked up.

I shall! Probably extremely excitedly about 5 minutes after getting the parcel haha! I've already got a maki-e goldfish converter to fit the theme, the question of course is which ink do I put in it...

OK, I'm on a roll !!!

Sailor 1911L Black Luster.

Black ion plated trim

Metal weighted section, gives the pen a nice balance

Cartridge / Converter

Capped 138mm

The metal section makes this pen feel grounded, no fatigue writing pleasure.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
