I love this pen and have decided that I need it.

Does anyone own one or have any experience with it?

Well said; it does look like it is sold out, though, here's the Rakuten/PenRoom link:

It looks like a gorgeous demonstrator, but I believe the nib is on the large side, so a "medium-fine" might be closer to a medium.

I couldn't tell from Penhouse's site. Where's the "add to cart" button? Thanks!

[update], I believe I figured it out, right, this is fine?

Yes, thanks, but it does not seem possible to use a United States Address in the Pen-house site.

Having purchased from Pen House before and myself being from the U.S.A., they will ask you to purchase from their Rakuten shop (if you contact them about stock)-- one can't make international purchases through their regular website.

Very nice people to purchase from, but they don't seems to keep their Rakuten shop up to date. I placed several orders with them and several times they contacted me to cancel orders because they didn not have the item in-stock. You don't get charged until you confirm the final cost of the order (with shipping), so there's no need to worry about paying for an item that they don't have.

Here's the English site for Pen House on Rakuten: http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/penroom/

When you go to pay for the items in your cart, you will need google translate, or any browser that will prompt you to translate to your native language.

I was thinking about making an order with them just now. Have you noticed them tacking on an "overseas corresponding fee?" Looks like it runs about 7-8% or so. On my invoice, it says "(Tax excl.)" next to this fee, making it sound like this is not the Japanese consumption tax being added. And it's definitely not the shipping fee, that's listed separately. Is it possibly just an extra fee they add on for doing business with overseas customers?

In my case, it's only adding about six dollars or so to the purchase, so not a huge deal, but it seems a bit odd.

The "correspondence fee" amounted to change for me (¥75 yen), but yes, your 7% seems correct. I wonder if it's a fee to cover the Pen House's usage of Rakuten. Other Japanese sellers have not taxed me, but they were not on Rakuten.

cool-japan is an eBay seller who I contact once a month to purchase limited edition, Japan-only inks and fountain pens not showen in his on-line eBay shop. If you're not crazy about the "correspondence fee", touch base with him, his prices are fair and competitive.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) my voice of reason aka my husband, has reminded me that my pen budget does not currently allow for me to be able to purchase this pen. If it happens to be around in a few months though I am all over that! Stevesurf, please do a review :)

Will do Beth; it doesn't seem like a big seller, but it appears to be gorgeous with the blue sparkles and "pink" gold. I'll know when I get it; they just shipped it out. Really, you may want to tell hubby that the Yen may never be weak like this for quite a long time, so there might be a price increase.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
