Yes a Parker 51 aerometric with a 12 C rolled gold cap. I would look on the barrel for a possible date code.

The 1/10 on the cap marking before the 12CT indicates 1/10 the weight of the cap body weight is 12CT gold. So.. about 0.5-0.75 grams.

Other than that additional info, there isn't a lot more to say. The model is a 'Custom', which is what the RG caps were called. If there is no date code, there are details which can be used to narrow the dating down - these are indicated here:

Hope this helps a little.

Oh, and is that a 'Green' Jewel I see on the end of the cap, or is it a photographic artefact?

Now I am truly doubtful about the notion that the jewels came only in three colors and in aluminium. May be the green is Kullock reproduction jewel but the question is whether there was any documented evidence that the jewels were produced only in four colors/finishes?

Value ? Many are better than I at bargain hunting. Maybe I am a savvy consumer, or

maybe not. I can only tell you what I would offer. I own four P51 Aeros and three P51

Vacs. In good, clean, working condition, I would offer $100 for this pen. I assume that

there are no undepicted dents, gouges, chips, etc. I paid $100 for each of my three

recent Parker 51's. If the internals require reconditioning to "new-ish" condition, such

work would cost me $35. I would offer $65.

If it is a "frankenpen" or if there are "chew" marks, I wouldn't want it.

Looks like a gray jewel to me. Odd angle to judge it from though.

I have a pen that's very similar (but without the '51 on the cap' and the jewel is indeed grey, but has a greenish tint.

One small addition: "rolled gold" was, I think, the Parker England name for what Parker US called "gold-plated". If so, you have an English pen.

Gold Filled is the US term you seek.

Thanks everybody, for your interest, there is a writing on the barrel says made in i think but its so scratched that part, i cant even read the rest. This is the colour of the jewel and the pen writes super smoothly with an everyday pelikan ink, i bought this pen for 10 dollars, i am so lucky😃😃

Congrats. You got it nearly for free. I too got three of my 51s for around $10.

Some of the first year English 51s have this inscription on the back of the cap.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
