Pelikan Classic M205 Amethyst

SNAK

Recommended Posts

I just got a newsletter from Bungbox in Japan (of Sailor Bungbox inks fame) about the new M205 Demonstrator in Amethyst! I hadn't heard about it before so I am super excited. They say it will be available (in Japan) in August.

I always thought there aren't enough purple pens.

I can't wait to get this one when it becomes available!

Interesting. I had heard rumors but this is the first graphic that I've seen to give those rumors weight. Not the highest quality image unfortunately. It would certainly be an interesting color to add to the line up. Will have to see what develops. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! I wondered when this would turn up. Can't wait to see more pictures - it would be great if it was reasonably close to the ink colour, which would make a beautiful demonstrator (although I do prefer solid colours myself).

Love it. Purple is my favorite color. And I like the silver color trim of the M205 more than the gold color trim of the M200.

I'd hoped when there was talk of a purple pen that it might be a version like the Vibrant Green pen ... Now that would be stunning .....

Or a Stresemann with amethyst stripes ....

But this looks nice too, just not as nice as the pen I was dreaming of ....

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Is this a demonstrator? Not sure I'm all that wild about it -- and normally I like purple. And Pelikan pens....

Yes, according to the newsletter I received, it is a demonstrator. I have reserved a pen through Bungbox but if any of my usual German sources have the new pen available sooner, I will get one from them and cancel the reservation with Bungbox, as I find that they usually get Pelikan pens in later.

I have always been worried about purple inks staining my clear demonstrator pens so I will be happy if I can have a designated purple inks demonstrator pen!

I have been enjoying my Cognac in the last few months... and I have been also interested to read about the colours in which new Pelikan M20X demonstrators would be produced. I find this Amethyst a nice addition to the list and it is probably one of my favourites (along with the Cognac, the Anthracite and the Red ones). I just miss the golden trims. I prefer pens with golden trims in general, but I also think they would be just great in this Amethyst pen.

This may be a Japan-only pen, or a Bung Box exclusive.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Quite clever with the pretty 200 of the year models.

I've seen some very nice looking 200's over the years. About half would have interested me, had I not a selection of 400's. Still need a couple of them....missing a red and blue striped one.

I'd even be happy with an opaque purple pen. Purple is my favorite color and I have no purple pens (unless you count the Lamy Al-Star in purple, which I don't consider a purple color). So it's time I added one to my collection, right?

I've managed to last 5 weeks without buying a pen and I had planned to last quite a while longer. However, there's no chance with that pen becoming available. I love purple, I love demonstrators and I already have (& adore Edelstein Amethyst).

I'm a big fan of Pelikan pens and besides my M800 Borwn Tortoise I have the M200 in Black and also in Cognac, an M205 in Taupe and a Yellow Demo.

This m205 is very tempting, especially since I'll be taking a pass on the Barbie m600.

But what is this thread doing in the Market Watch forum instead of the Pelikan forum?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
