Hi,

I just got a montblanc 146 bordeaux that I bought in an auction. The problem is that the pen pictures showed a black version.

The black versions of 146 are more or less valuable than Bordeaux?

Thanks.

Jar,

Thanks for info.

I think I'll stay with bordeaux. Not what I expected, but as I have a 145 and 149 in black and this 146 bordeaus will gives a contrast in my collection.

The Bordeaux is beautiful; happy accident.

After some meditation, I had the same conclusion.

I'd say that the Burgundy 146 is more valuable than its black counterpart. The 146R has been out of production for a while and any day now frantic collectors will start buying them all up.

I prefer the Bordeaux version over the black unless the black has platinum trim.

The oficial name of color is Bordeaux? Thanks for info!

What was the last year of production with this color?

About the same value but the Bordeaux is not made anymore.

I've heard rumors that they'll make it again. Can anyone confirm this or not?

I was given the choice this week between black and Bordeaux on the 146. I naturally went with Bordeaux :) Based on the bay, I have seen Bordeaux go for higher prices; however, there are also much fewer 146R's that go up for sale than the black ones. That is why I think they bring higher prices. They are becoming harder to find!

it's true bordeaux versions are rarer and they get higher prices - however I prefer black ones look much classier in my opinion

This went for a 'snowcap' at MB. Got a message back from them saying that, although it was authentic, the pen had never been produced in the combination that I had sent in ie black body & end piece with vermeil cap,and they could only work on it if I agreed to have it reverted back to as it should be with all new parts supplied by them. My initial thought was cost but on enquiring further it was all in with the service charge and so I got with the exception of the cap a new burgundy & vermeil 162 doue :)
