Ahab Cap Threads Very Sticky..anyone Else?

I've noticed lately that both my Ahab caps are getting stickier and harder to unscrew.

 

Nothing in the threads that I can see which would explain it. .

 

 

Just the nature of the Ahab and the material it's made of?

The cap thread on mine feels as though it might catch or stick if I were to screw it down too firmly. There's a faint sound each time I unscrew it. Perhaps the material has a tendency to bind, a bit like aluminium threads do?

I'm hoping it's not a breaking down of the material. .

I believe the vegetal resin is biodegradable if left for some time in a compost heap. My desk is messy, but not that messy.

Yeah, biodegradable provided you allow moisture, soil, and microbes to do their thing, right?

Perhaps try smearing a dab of pure silicone grease like you'd use for eyedroppers or greasing pistons in the threads and working it in a bit. That smoothed out the threads on my Gama Raja pretty efficiently and I don't think there's any concern with silicone interacting with the resin, considering how many Ahabs have been eyedropper converted.

It doesn't take much grease. A little goes a long way.
