Ever-Growing Collection Of Blue Uk Aero Duofolds (And A Whoopsie!)

Hi all.

I've been collecting the UK aerometric Duofolds in blue for a while now and have so far acquired a Slimfold, a Junior, a standard Duofold (which arrived this morning) and a Duofold Senior. I did some writing samples and took a picture of the pens to see if anyone else shared a love of them.

I also did a silly thing. These pens are very similar looking, and the Duofold and Duofold Senior are fairly similar in terms of breadth. I meant to fill the Duofold with Diamine Blue Black; instead I picked up the Senior, which was already quite full of Diamine Sherwood Green. In doing so, I ruined the end of a 30ml bottle of Blue Black and created an insipid sort of teal. I think I'm going to purchase four of the Cult Pens Deep Dark series to go with these pens as they work so well with dark colours.

Ah, but you live in "Diamine land". Until Augist, 2013, I could walk into the great Art Brown's Penshop, in mid-town Manhattan, and see almost every ink Diamine offered!

A nice collection of UK aerometric Duofolds. I don't think Parker sold them in the US.

The Duofold was a steal at 20 Pounds. I never manage to get such deals. I have an AF Duofold with a broad nib. You should try out the earlier duofolds - especially the big reds....I am sure you will love them.

I like them too, and now also have four aerometric pens and two matching pencils, although I'm not restricting myself to blues. In fact, I don't yet have a blue at all. I have black standard and senior, green junior and a red victory, which to my eyes is identical to the junior.

They're good pens, and in my view, much under-appreciated.

I like your collection of Duofolds and also the Diamine Blue-Black-Sherwood-Green. I may mix some up myself.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

I love the English Aerometric Duofolds and have lately collected six of these. They are lovely pens.

I like them too, they are quite common in NZ. I use the Demis as work pens, I have a blue one with Diamine Denim and a red one with filtered J Herbin Rouge Hematite. They are short enough to fit into the modern business shirt pocket but are the same diameter as the standard Duofold. From a collecting point of view I like the NS and AF over the Aerometrics.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
