Some Of My Recent Work

I haven't posted here for a while, so here are a few of my latest pens.

First off, a pen that I am really proud of:

This pen is a Denver style that I have named "Morning Coffee". This pen features actual coffee beans in the body and the cap finial, and the cap, section, and the body finial are made from a very coffee-evoking alumilite blank. I sleeved the coffee bean barrel with alumilite to add strength.

Next, another Denver with blue/black swirly alumilite. This one has finial cabochons matching the cap/body barrels. I made the section on this pen capable of taking either a fountain pen assembly, or the Schmidt Rolling Riter rollerball assembly.

And a new style for me, a Cocalico in jade green acrylic. This pen is postable, and is fitted with a stub nib.

Another Cocalico, also postable, in Sun & Water PR. I really love the pearlescence in this material - pictures just don't do it justice.post-116956-0-80254300-1432582246_thumb.jpgpost-116956-0-66763800-1432582247_thumb.jpgpost-116956-0-24442900-1432582287_thumb.jpegpost-116956-0-33257900-1432582288_thumb.jpgpost-116956-0-34184900-1432582289_thumb.jpg

Hope you all like them!

Nice. The Denver in particular...

Nice work sir, I like them all.

You are very talented, nice work.

Thanks, guys! I like the Denver style, too. Its clean, straight lines make it easy to manufacture, and still elegantly display the material used.

I love the Denver coffee one the best.

What clips do you use, these seem to be a sensible dia.

Cheers

Thanks! They are called Triton clips, and I get them from ExoticBlanks.com. The OD is ~14.5mm, IIRC.

I was curious, how do you decide what thread pitch to use on the pens for the cap and or feed units? That cocalico is fantastic!

Thanks Chris.

I've only found the ones for slimline and similar and had to cut the ring to fit a circa 15mm cap.

These sound like the right one for me.

Still can't stop looking at the Denver Coffee pen though.

Cheers

Andy

Just checked the site for the clips. They want $60 to send 5 to UK. I think I'll have to email them.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
