I just ordered a Pilot Custom 823,Pilot Iroshizuku Asa gao ink, Rhodia Webnotebook, and a Quiver A5 single pen holder from Goulet Pens. Anyone that puts a lollipop with the order can't be all that bad.

Goulet is great. Great service, great website tools, and I love the ink sampling.

Fantastic pen, ink, paper and accessory combo from a superlative vendor :)

I've made a few purchases with Goulet and have only had an issue with one- and that was because I was ordering a few days after the new website launched and they hadn't worked all the bugs out yet. A quick call to Anna (I think that's how she spelled her name) over at Goulet fixed my issue and left me with a good feeling about ordering from them.

My 2000, whenever I justify buying another pen, will come from them despite the slightly higher price :)

Oh, and let us know what you think about your new gear... and your Tootsie Roll pop ;) (I actually got a mini bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans in one of my orders but tootsie roll pops seem to be the norm)

Here to help when I know, learn when I don't, and pass on the information to anyone I can :)

No pens in the order I put in yesterday (dang -- forgot to check the tracking today) but I've got a couple of bottles of ink and some samples. Oh wait, I tell a lie -- I was able to snag a bottle of Nooder's Heart of Darkness with a Charlie pen.

Really hope I like the pen -- because I'm stuck with 4-1/2 more ounces of black ink otherwise.... :headsmack:

Sounds lovely. I love ordering a pen and waiting for it.

Anyone like Ray Bradbury? Please read "The Laurel and Hardy Love Affair" if you have about 12 minutes.

You will not forget this wonderful gem that is largely obscure and sadly, forgotten. http://bit.ly/1DZtL4g

Glenn, it is a medium nib. I'm tracking it at USPS. It should be here after Memorial Day.I"ll let you know what flavor the Tootsie pop is when it arrives.

Great customer service from a family that is very passionate about taking care of their employees and the needs of the fountain pen community.

I always have a pen in rotation inked up with Asa Goa. I've used Asa Gao in vintage, modern, Western, and Japanese pens. Great choice.

Hard to go wrong with Rhodia paper and a fountain pen! After years of journalling and trying just about every type of paper, I've settled on Rhodia A4 notebooks as my preferred paper.

Enjoy your purchase.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
