Diff Between Delta 365 And Delta Dolcevita

Dear All

I was wondering what is the difference between the Delta 365 and the Dolcevota. Aside from the looks?

Is the Delta 365 a discontinued line? I must say i prefer the dolcevita looks and do not like the band around the cap the way the 365 has it, however i was unable to find any material on it and was hoping someone would set out the differences.

Many thanks in advance

One of the big differences is that the 365 is a C/C while the Dolce Vita is a piston filler. The material for the body and cap for the 365 seems like of equal quality, but the cap band and then filling mechanism are significant differences.

There may be others, but those stand out.

Dolce Vita comes in C/C piston or button fill, in something like five sizes. More shapes also if you include the Papillon, Zen and others.

365 came in C/C, several colors. The Amber 365 is not the orange used on the DV.

I prefer the size on the 365. Mine is put away right now, but I remember it being as long as the DV oversize, but not oversize in diameter. More like a mid size DV diameter with the oversize length. So a less stout design.

365 came with the same nib as the contemporary DV. I've had two, both with the Millenium nib. There was nothing special that I ever saw with the Millenium nib, as far as I know it was only indicative of the year (or era) of manufacture.

I have both pens and previous comments cover most of the differences. What contrasts the two lines most was that the Dolce Vita came out with the variety mentioned by esteroids. You could get a huge, over sized Dolce Vita, a short thick Dolce Vita, a Dolce Vita in a large size with an truly excellent piston system, or you could get a lower-end C/C filler version.

The 365 was not unlike the lower-end C/C version of the Dolce Vita. But the lower-end version was the only 365 released. The packaging on the 365 explains that "365" referred to the idea that this pen was a pen to be used every day. In other words a writer's pen not a collector's pen.

My piston-fill Dolce Vita Oro compares favorably to a Pelikan M800. My C/C fill Delta 365 I'd compare to a full-size, gold nibbed Visconti Van Gogh.

Thank you for your replies.

So the 365 is still a continuing model and not a discontinued one?

I could not find it on their website

I got mine on clearance about two years ago so, yes, the 365 is no longer in production but I see them up for sale occasionally as used or NOS (new old stock).

Thanks PatientType

If i may ask what would be a good price for such a NOS pen or a sparingly used pen

I just sold an almost mint one here a couple of weeks ago for $185. The new 365's go for almost twice that.

AAAndrew is in the right ball park. I'd say $175 to $200 depending on condition, boxes included, etc. and maybe a tad more for an unused NOS fresh in the box.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
