So I thougth I must definately do a review of this lovely ink soon....

I guess the day after is pretty soon ;) so here it is

The Colour is a lovely highly saturated red brown. On paper, in daylight, it looks a bit like rust brown but but darker

Ink Behavior

http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20sampler_zpscjvqi972.jpg

The ink is medium wet and writes smoothly.

The Lamy 1,5 Italic showed a bit more feed back but this was mostly on the classic line gerippt paper... Guess this has todo with the paper's surface texture (rippled)

Feathering is absent, and showthrough is minimal. Bleedthrough only when forced means... holding the Ink gusher Lamy on the paper for a few seconds.... so No bleedthrough :)

Shading is minimal due due it's high saturation.... but therefore you get a deep and rich red brown :)

http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20Jacques%20Cousteau_zpsawnp9zfn.jpg

No not waterproof but this ink was not meant to be waterproof.... Drop you royal blue texts in water and the only difference is that the colour turns red rather than blue instead (cool I am a poet)

Ink comparison

http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a617/Morbus_Curiositas/Waterman%20Havana/Havana%20WH2%20samplertext%20comparison_zpsr3ry3q1p.jpg

Mmmm er? I see a similarity but maybe I need new glasses. Because this intrigued me I will do a extensive comparison of these inks soon

Availability

This is one of those inks that is even avaiLable on the moon, simply hijack a passing space craft.... But since you and I most probably will not get to the moon that often at least I don't)...

I will give you some adresses here

La Couronne Du Comte I guess Dennis and Rik would even travel to the moon to get it for you (just pay them a million or 2 :)) Well it is safe to say that they do almost everything to satisfy their customers http://www.lacouronneducomte

Bankers have Rothshield Ink lovers have the Goulet Pen Compan. Rachel and Brian carry theALMOST largest soritment of ink on earth an it's near surroundings :) http://www.gouletpens.com

(almost Dear Amberlea Davis carries the largest assoritment in the univers but is not a seller :D

Too Conclude

This is a very pleasant ink. I love the colour it is a nice mixture of dark red and brown... Well must love it if as I love the D-A WH2 ink too.

It behaves very well and is a pleasure to write with.No it is not waterproof but I gues a little drop it will survive..

It does ot have a lot of shade but hte the deep and rich colour compensates that for me. And the ink is still distinticve enough... So that it is obvious immediately that your are writein wiht a Fountain Pen instead of scribble sticks for idiots (biros ;) )

Final words love  this ink and although it issimilar to- D-A Wilhelm 2, I will buy both inks when the bottles are empty.

Regards Peter

Thanks for the review. I have been using Havana Brown and its predecessors for many years. It is just a good, useful, brown ink.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
